This does work in the reverse. Terrible games will tend to have a higher score on PS3 than they do on 360...but nobody cares.

Seriously, go count. (Almost) every single game has more reviews for 360 than for PS3 on metacritic.

As a result of this actually, when the two scores are identical (Call of Duty 4, for example), this implies the PS3 game is actually a better game due to metacritic's natural handicapping of the score in favor of the Xbox.

None of this is metacritics fault, it's just how it works.

Much like attach rates, what metacritic does can not be applied cross platform.

i didn't say that, you did. i was simply giving an example how there are more games with higher scores for one over the other. we can drop the score to 80 if you'd like, the difference is even bigger.

but if metacritic is your problem, i can post up a list from ign, gamespot, etc and i bet it'd be the same story. more high rated games for the 360 than the ps3.

Everyone knows these websites are very biased and are made up of fanboys protecting their franchise of choice... usually always the 360. Just check the scores on Ornage Box & Oblivion... Oblivion was better on PS3 but scored lower. Orange Box is the same thing on both but because of timing it scored 7 pts lower... come on. And these clowns love to hate on PS3 exclusives.

Consider me not impressed.

Neither one of the links .. yours or mine .. take into account the bias and influence of the underlying reviewers being aggregated. As we saw with Kane and Lynch these scores often say as much about advertising dollars as they do about a game.

These scores show a different picture...the top 10% are even ... and overall the quality of the PS3 games are better.

The only thing to trust is your own xp as any reviews often leave out things that are important to some but not others. For example they rarely if ever mention the extra controller capability of the PS3 for sports games - which is a big plus for our kids when their friends are over .. but something a single person reviewer is usually oblivious to.

your links are a terrible way to compare the systems. you can't take the reviews of all the games and get a good picture

but you're right..only you can be the judge if a game is good or not

It's all the same. I think you missed my point.. it's all subjective and arbitrary and therefore open to abuse. Unless you want to explain away what happened at AVS even in regards to facts about Blu-ray and HD DVD. Think what most people on this site would have believed if this site wouldn't have been here. As long as the right people are in the right positions they can have widespread effects on what people believe to be the truth that have little to do with reality. Your assuming any of those numbers have meaning as to what is better and what is not. Neither one is relevant IMO - my links included. As you can see below you don't even have to influence all of them just the noted ones. It's arbitrary and subjective but the numbers are used to indicate absolutes. Now do I think Sony and MS engage in the same tactics .. yes...but as been pointed out MS has more money than God and is more likely to have a bigger influence. Similar reason MS are getting killed on the Web by Google - because Google is the 800 pound gorilla in the search and ad market and have the influence and incentives to offer .. some of it explicit and some implicit.

Which is why reviews are not worthy of the importance placed on them .. to me. They are of interest for facts like number of levels, single-player only etc. And there is the occasional one I come across that actually provides some insights as to why you would care about something. But more often than not they are a testosterone filled 25-30year old something that has a very narrow definition of what is and isn't important and makes a great game.

To me Warhawk is a 10 because it has been an incredible amount of FUN.

For a time, I was interested in buying a XBox360 -mainly because of the impressive slate of titles the platform had in support of it.

But I decided to avoid the purchase completely after seeing the problems several of my friends and coworkers were having with their XBox360 consoles.

Everyone I personally know who owns a XBox360 has had problems with it serious enough to require sending the system back to Microsoft -often for a complete replacement. Some have had to send their systems back numerous times. One of my coworkers has two XBox360 systems -one for him and one for his wife. He has sent his off for repair/replacement twice. She has shipped away her system FIVE TIMES!

The "red ring of death" error is a huge embarrassment for Microsoft.

Any product with such horrible system failure problems should just be avoided until it is completely redesigned to fix those problems. Just sending away one faulty system to be traded for another just as likely to fail is crazy.

very true, and while 360 fanboys will say this isnt true i just shove the "so you would have bought a xbox 1 if there wasnt halo?" or " you didnt buy the 360 b/c you knew halo 3 was coming out?" and now i hear alot of fanboys saying "well 360 has been out longer so more people have them so that is why the ps3 is selling more, b/c everyone has a 360 so your not gonna buy another one"........my responce to that is " so why are people still buying ps2's left and right? " . the bottom line is that people arent buying 360 b/c they break, like 1 in 5 break. even people at walmart/gamestop/ebgames are telling their customers this, hey its a plus for them b/c they get them to by the warr.

Yes this is the year of the ps3, reliable system + Blu-ray games + Blu-ray movies = top dog!

I've had my 360 since launch and have friends that leave thier 360's on 24/7
and have never had problems but my brother has gone thru 3 360's so i guess its luck of the draw

As I don't and will never own a 360, I don't understand the "fanboy" (as the kids call it these days) attitude towards the PS3. Yes it's a great system, as I own one too, but if you own a Honda...are you on the Honda site calling Chevy's..."Shitty Caveliers"? If people understand the 360 has a higher rate of failing...whatever floats their boat. I just think the people who buy the 360 vs. PS3 are two different consumer types....dumb and smart Sorry...just had to fit in with the thread

All I have to say is that it amuses me to hear Microsoft's excuse regarding XBox 360 shortages accounting for the increased sales of PS3s when in fact, all of my local electronics retailers have ample supply of XBox 360's!!! They know that the XBox 360's life cycle has already reached its climax and is going downhill now!
