Will My "Classic" Movies Be Available Soon?

Just wanted to find out if anyone knows if my favs will be released soon on Blu Ray. I am trying to decide if I should buy a player now, wait for joint BLU/HD Machine or wait to see which format will prevail. Anyway - Among the many movies I am interested in are:

Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind

The Thing is out on HD-DVD

Jaws and ET touted by HD-DVD but then later had to apologise as they're likely not going to be released on HD-DVD!

Thanks so much for the good news! How do I find out about the upcoming releases? Is there a database and/or a magazine or such. I am assuming that ET & Jaws will one day come out on Blu Ray? Will The Thing also be available on Blu Ray? I imagine most people prefer Blu Ray?
