Default Favorite "Classic" Horror Icon???

Ok since I mostly do modern polls and I know we have a lot of old school fans who prefer older films and such. I figured and by request to make a poll for the classic horror icons as well. I had a couple of opinions on who to put on the poll and who not to so this is the list I came up with. Vote for who is your favorite of these original horror icons. These are the guys that got the genre started! No modern characters here strictly old school. Again I did get input from others for this poll so if the character u like isnt on the poll and its an old school icon then just vote for the next favorite on the list. Just to let it be known there were 2 characters I didnt know what to do with (King Kong & Godzilla) but after discussions and such I decided to leave those 2 off as they are more monster/sci-fi and not necessarily horror. Wanted that to be known before it was brought up. Remember vote for your "favorite" icon not necessarily the greatest! Anyhoo lets get this goin. My favorite classic horror icon has to be..........

The Creature!!!!!

Got Em!!

I voted for Dracula -- you can't go wrong there. But, my favorite would have to be Norman Bates.

I consider Norman Bates more modern. I included him on the modern icon list. I would say the cutoff is between the 50's-60's and he fits more of the modern horror icons. I would even say he is the first modern horror icon in my eyes. Got Em!!

I voted Frankenstein, but it really is a toss up between it & Bride of Frankenstein, they are equally great.

I chose Frankenstein's monster as the most iconic (Lugosi's Dracula could be too), but there are some great films you mentioned. The Black Cat isn't iconic, but it's a cool movie. Karloff & Lugosi at their best.

Good poll Czar! -- Have you seen any of these movies?

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is really good and really weird. It's not for everyone -- it's a 1919 silent film -- but it's one of the first real horror movies. And if you see a good print with a good score, it still has some eerie scenes in it.

I know it sounds cliche' with the new one coming out, but Wolfman was always my favorite! It just wouldn't have been the same without Lon Chaney Jr. in the role. He always maintained that sympathetic character, even in his 5th appearance as the Wolfman in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. What a classic!!!

Yea I hear him talked about occasionally but never witnessed him in action. I think there are a few films with him also. I figured he deserved to be on the list.

What I am surprised at so far is no votes for the Mummy!! To me just in general I always thought the most popular or biggest icons back then were Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein, & the Mummy! So its weird that 3 of those 4 are getting votes but not the Mummy! Just an observation. Also whats up with my pick the Creature? No one liked the Creature from the Black Lagoon or the sequels?? Cmon yall! Got Em!!

I voted for Dracula-The Bela Lugosi Dracula, is there any other? but Frankenstein(Karloff) was a very close second.

My uncle is a big Universal Mummy fan. I didn't care for the Universal version. Hammer Studio's Mummy, with Christopher Lee, is where it's at!!!
