So no. I personally will most certainly not welcome the likes of that here.
So I guess this guy was bad enough to even invalidate the old adage:

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer"

I guess that adage does'nt include WackJobs

It got to the point where it was generally disconcerting to read some of his stuff. I was unsettled on more than one occasion because there was just a certain sign of...shrillness and instability that I just finally made a point to avoid at all costs.

See that's where I really wondered if he was a nut with a personality disorder because he really would roleplay to some of those screen names.

Julie was truly a nasty individual.

That's the other thing people forget: These people were unpleasant and belligerent on top of everything else.

I envy the people that don't know what we're talking about, but a lot of this stuff simply does not deserve a free pass, to say the least.
I think some people weren't there on AVS (I was there, different screen name though) trying to point out how much rubbish Deadmeat GA and Julie were spouting. The worst part was that Deadmeat was considered an insider wasn't he?

I think those two members and Amir destroyed AVS, they got rid of Deadmeat but Julie/Oshodi/LAGOSIAN/etc... is still there and of course Amir continues in his role as an insider though he has no official role with Microsoft or HD DVD or Blu-ray at this time.

He pretended to be and pretended to be connected. As is typical with some of the HD-DVD zealots and even some of the MS personnel and such...they let him get away with it and they went along with it simply because he helped further their propoganda, which I find unforgiveable.

DM, Julie, etc.'s track records on accuracy were absymal. I would have had more respect for the MS guys and some others if they'd properly distanced themselves from that rubbish and denounce it but none of them ever did.

Of course when you had an MS guy like nataraj refer to BD supporters as "terrorists" then all bets are off, I suppose.

Agreed on all counts.

At least 5thDanMaster admits he now knows what we have been arguing for the past year.

It's not like Lee Stewart's comment which to me read "I'm still right, you all are still wrong, except now I have no choice but to embrace Blu-ray. Thanks a lot. "

Well, they certainly 'helped' rdjam in his crusade against Blu-ray. Anyone with a propaganda website should be kept away from any insiders by default. No offence to beatboy77, but when he started his propaganda website I asked the mods to keep him away from me...

I still remember that terrorists remark, obviously there was the plazman apartheid comments as well, comparing Blu-ray owners to South African slave drivers. I still don't understand how they got away with those comments. If I ever said anything like that, I would probably lose my job for bringing the company into disrepute (even though it remains anonymous)!

I absolutely agree on this point. That is why I don't buy the "I was mislead and now see the light" explanation for even a second. It all seems just a tad too convenient. It's like Mark Reuban (or however you spell it), and all the bs that he knowingly allowed to go over at avs, and then when the jig is up, he thinks he can just make a call for bygones to be bygones and call everybody back so it all can be just like it used to be. Wtf?! It takes a lot of effort to achieve the level of corruption that was exhibited over the past year or so. Things like that don't happen just by mistake, and someone possessing a high degree of reasoning and debating skills (as some of the most vocal proponents are particularly noted for) doesn't just let the wool get pulled over their eyes on a whim. There was concerted intent and willful malfeasance (hah!...got to finally work that term into a speech) involved.

All of this points to an issue of personal integrity, rather than a claimed temporary ignorance of the facts. I no more trust them to be a proponent for our side than a proponent for the opposite side. Conceivably, they would simply resort to the same slimy tactics that they employed before. Even if it is "helping" our side, I don't think that is something "our side" necessarily needs association with [persons and tactics of that ilk].

Even if it really is a sincere case of temporary ignorance, isn't that even more reason to dismiss anything they have to say on sight? They don't really have the ability to tell "right" from "wrong", rather simply just go with whatever way the wind is blowing. Common sense and integrity are simply missing from the psychological makeup, altogether, imo (it's the crucial difference of knowing "right from wrong" vs. just going through the motions that give the impression of "knowing right from wrong"...it's really not that far off from the "sociopath" profile). They may have found salvation today, but there is nothing, absolutely nothing that prevents them from going rogue on a dime some other day. There is simply nothing in their psyche that keeps that in check.

There are seemingly countless instances like those where action should have been taken and wasn't. I think it speaks for itself quite well.

The Oshodi <--> Lagosian connection I never knew. But, "Dan Lagosian" showed up after Julie was perma-banned on AVS and admitted he was Julie (which he claimed was his wife's name). He was then banned for ban dodging.

So, Lagosian and *Dan* are clearly Julie.

Exactly.

The KEY issue I had with Amir was that he didn't help out crushing the ultra-zealots. He actually ENCOURAGED it with "you'd be surprised how many things Deadmeat/Julie/rdjam/etc. has right" crap.

The enemy of my enemy could very well be my enemy. And I don't respect any person or country that doesn't subscribe to that philosophy.

He hung his hat in that lot and got burned. He finds himself in the same place they are: Zero credibility land.

Clearly that wasn't the case here. Clearly they were all on the same side and I still wouldn't be surprised if there were more connections there then we'll ever know.

Across AVS and other forums: There just was so much time and energy expended by a select few probably using several screen names to create this illusion on the boards of a growing mass buying into the wall to wall propoganda they put out. Some of them were posting almost around the clock and you'd see some of them have a 9000 post count history in a handful of months.

What's the motivation there? Even the most rabid of fanboyist zealotry would only go so far...

Red side still spreading some lies there. Like Trotwood for example, calims "HD-DVD version of Potter has DolbyTrueHD but BD only has DD+" conveniently ignoring that Blu-ray version has uncompressed PCM and all extras in hi-def. What a lying dunce.

I remember 5thDanMaster, Dan Lagosion, and Oshodi, but I don't remember Julie.

Either way, while I don't believe in holding grudges... especially to people if they TRULY "drank the red Kool-Aid", people who consistently lied and deceived don't exactly deserve to be welcomed either. There are places like AVSForum and HighDefDigest that he can play in...

As far as "drinking the red Kool-Aid" goes, I too gave into "peer pressure" and imbibed of the sugary red concoction. While part of me is glad that I was able to see HD DVD for myself to see what I wasn't missing, I would have saved quite a bit of money by simply going through with my original plan of being a Blu-ray supporter. While I don't believe I EVER misled or deceived anybody, I certainly did have multiple "discussions" with Blu-ray supporters over at AVSForum which now make me look "foolish" in hindsight. I'm just thankful that I started to see the writing on the wall only a couple of months after I got my HD DVD player.

You have to go back to before the launch. Both Julie and DeadmeatGA were the tag team of outrageous claims.

Both were banned before or soon after the formats launched.

When the PS/3 launched and BD took over sales, I quit going to the other places, because the outcome of the war was obvious. But, a surprising number of bloody battles had to be fought before others came to this realization.

For Blu-ray.com it was a great thing. Because other sites were driving away Blu-ray supporters in droves.

We all have. No one would have said this, even now, if HD-DVD were still in play. That is why I hold them in contempt. They show no "courage" in forming thought out opinions of their own. They are cowards who want to pretend they didn't fight a battle based on untruths and exaggerations. AKA Lies...
