Default Friends Season 1 & 2, Individual Sets, Announced for April 30th

TV Shows on DVD.com have announced that the individual season sets for Season 1 & 2 have been announced for April 30th. Great news for everyone who has been waiting for the much affordable separate season sets:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Fri...-1-and-2/17967

Quote:
Friends - The Complete 1st Season on Blu-ray will cost $25.98 SRP, for 2 discs with 24 episodes plus extras. Those include a Pilot Episode Producers' Commentary, the "Remember Friends of Friends" featurette with clips of memorable guest stars, and a Season Two Trailer. Friends - The Complete 2nd Season on BD is also $25.98 SRP for 2 discs, and those 24 episodes are accompanied by extras in the form of The Uncut Version of Smelly Cat, a Friends of Friends Guestbook, and the "Learn What's Up With Your Friends" featurette. Both titles also include UltraViolet versions of the episodes, which must be redeemed within two years of the initial street date.
Quote:
Note that these will be the same versions of the episodes found on the previous Blu-rays, which contain the footage as originally aired on NBC. Full-sized package art isn't available yet, but you can see from the thumbnail images at the top that they are using the same key artwork from the original DVD season sets.

Even the prices per set are reasonable. Figure that retailers like Best Buy, Target and Walmart will have them for around $20.

If the special features disc isn't a part of one of the latter season sets, then I might as well just wait for the UK set to go down in price rather than buy the individual seasons.

How are they gonna know? Retailers only check to see if the disks are still in it. They don't care about the download codes or online codes.

So you think it's perfectly okay to cheat someone else out of getting a complete set? Nice.

If WBShop has them for that price, I'll wait until Best Buy, Target and Walmart start listing it. It'll be for a lower price. After all, That 70's Show Season 1 is listed at Best Buy for $16.99 when others have it listed at $25.

I'm guessing season one will be the same.

Good to know I never got around to picking up the boxed set so I will be picking up the individual sets as they are released.

Keep in mind that the complete series set has a bonus disc that will likely remain exclusive to that set. If you don't care about it, then no biggie, but for anyone who cares about that sort of thing, it's something to consider.

Another nice thing about these individual releases is that for anyone who bought the US complete series set, if you hate the packaging, more than likely someone will eventually scan the covers for the individual versions. You could always download those and then put the discs in regular cases.

I'm all set though, having imported the UK set. It's shelf-friendly and takes up less space than what 10 separate season cases will occupy.
