Default FOX's "American Idol" (Season 16)

I was just wondering if anyone else on here watches American Idol. I haven't ever voted or anything but I do like the show. I just thought I'd throw this out there to get some thoughts on the new season.

Yeah, I actually watch it too. I have watched it for the last couple years. I enjoy the show, sometimes the judges say the same 'ole things, Randy..."it was a little pitchy", Paula..."I think that you look great...", and Simon..."It was too cabaret".

But I really do enjoy the show.

I've gotten bored with the show over the last couple of seasons. This year, even the 'entertaining' bad auditions were boring. I didn't finish watching Hollywood Week a just watched a few minutes here and there of the last couple weeks. Now that they have gone into their normal routine, I stopped completely. Next year I will probably watch none of it. There were a couple years where I watched it faithfully, but now I don't really care.

I agree. As each year goes by, I lose more interest. I would much rather turn off American Idol, and turn ond Call Of Duty 4.

I do agree that the auditions were boring this year and I don't think they need four or five weeks of them. But the top 12 is pretty talented this year, I think as is goes on there will be some surprises as to who leaves each week because of all the talent.

I used to be obsessed with the show. I followed everything to do with it, and never missed a week. The last 2-3 seasons, however, it has really started to just get on my nerves. Things are just so "cookie cutter" to me now.

Seacrest and the judges are more annoying than ever, and the more attention I pay to the show, the more I become displeased with things that go on behind the scenes. Like this season, Carly Smithson had a $2.2 million contract with a major label, like MCA or such, that flopped when the album didn't sell. Kristy Lee Cook has also been in a development deal with Arista Nashville. Almost all of these contestants that are supposed to be "amateurs" have serious, sometimes extravagent experience. If it's going to be a amateur contest, then make it an amateur content instead of a big sham. It's just growing sour on me.

And even worse, if you get to watch the British version of the show, you see lots more contestants that are outstanding get eliminated in Hollywood week that aren't even shown on the American version, all the while people like Sanjaya make it to the top 12. Totally ridiculous.

I've never really followed it much, but I had a little interest. I'd check out the highlights now and again, but after having watched a couple episodes this season, I think it's awful. The show isn't fostering any "new" talent, they're just looking for the same thing every year.

The thing that kills me about the contestants is that none of them just sing the damn songs. They all have to do that stupid warbly crap rather than just sing a note on key and be done with it.

Maybe I'm bitter, as I tried out for this season But I've had total strangers come up and tell me I sing 10x better than anybody on the show. The tryouts are rigged up, if you ask me.

I enjoy it, but only because of DVR. 2 hour performance show turns into maybe 15 minutes max. Skip all the fluff, the interviews, the lame idol commercials, hear a snippet of the beginning of their song, skip to the middle, 3 seconds...skip to last note, skip to Simon, next contestant.

Results show, that is 45 seconds long.

Rarely will I listen to a full song because they usually butcher the classic version doing whta BStecke said above, but when they do get it right I might sit through it.

Default American Idol 2010

So I followed it last season and was honestly entertained (mindless fun ).

We saw some great performers (I miss Normund Gentle). This season we've already seen a giant culture phenomenon, "Pants On the Ground"!

Anyone else following this show?

(I cannot wait to see "Ski Bo Ski" booted off....most irritating contestant EVER!!!)

Nothing special tonight except for Shania Twain and the guy trying to sing Tiny Tim.

Seriously...how hard is it to sing badly? The guy was bad at singing bad.

I didn't catch tonight's show, but I saw the infamous "Pants on the Ground" audition last week. From browsing YouTube yesterday, I gathered that he made an appearance/performance on The View yesterday, and Brett Favre promised to sing it in the locker-room if the Vikings won on Sunday.

And then there's the Jimmy Fallon/Neil Young version, if anyone missed it... here on Hulu.

Cool ... I watch this on and off. I lost interest after the second season but my family still watches it and sometimes I am forced to watch it.

That's gotta suck being carried out of an audition in handcuffs.....of course it's gotta suck when someone acts like a dumbass and you can't do anything about it.

I like it, it's entertaining. I fear the Ellen won't be entertaining and I don't see the need for a fourth judge besides. Now Simon is leaving and it won't be watching past this season.

So one contestant used to be on "Barney and Friends" and now is trying out dressed as a dominatrix....I don't care if she can sing...send her to Hollywood!
