Default The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976)

Quote:
On May 21, The highly requested THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN stars Oscar-Winner Ben Johnson and Dawn Wells (Gilligan's Island) and will be presented in Blu-ray + DVD combo with a new HD transfer of the film and extras (still in development and will be announced at a later date). The DVD will contain a rare bonus feature-length movie, THE EVICTORS (from 1979) that is also from the same Director as TOWN and has never been on DVD before.

This should be fun. I only became aware of the film thanks to Friday the 13th Part 2.

The Town the Dreaded Sundown scared the crap out of me as a kid, and I've wanted to see it again for years. I'll buy it if the price is right. Of course they took some liberties with the real story of the Texarkana Moonlight Murders

It's one of the most infamous scenes in all of slasher films imho, but here's the play by play:

[Show spoiler]One victim is tied to a tree, and the killer attaches a knife to a slide trombone and stabs her in the back repeatedly whilst trying to honk out a tune.

I'm hoping for the same. But I think a title needs "recommended titles" before it can make it into anyone's GoldBox. And based on the past Scream releases, they stay at $18.89 for a day or two, then shoot up to $20+.

I went ahead and pre-ordered Town, but I think I'm going to try the GoldBox game with Burning.

This has been a long time coming. I remember when this came out and I was living in Houston at the time. Scare us all. Everyone wanted to avoid "Texarkana TX/Ark" at all costs.

TMC plays it once in a great while, if people don't want to buy blind.

Default If you love it so much, write a song about it!

This is my first post here (I joined years ago for better resolution screenshots) but this is just the reason I troll this site daily for updates.

I bought TTTDS on VHS from amazon a few years back. What a great film.

I like it so much, I wrote a song about it on my debut EP. Needless to say, no one who hears it has any idea why we're "throwing a party in Texarkana..." But isn't that the point?

Day one buy for me! I've been thrilled this is coming to Blu-Ray since it was announced in October. I don't hear this movie mentioned very often on "scariest movies" lists, but it would make mine. The scenes with the Phantom Killer are incredibly creepy and effective. Can't wait to have an official release (my "unofficial" DVD doesn't count) in HD.
