**** me Drippy is so funny. Best thing they could have done was giving him the Welsh accent.

I got this on release week but haven't had time to start it. I played about 2 hours this morning and finished chapter 1. Enjoying the game so far, reminds me of Dragon Quest VIII. Can't wait to get off work tonight and really get into the game. I want my Griffy.

At what point do you find him? I'm on the island soon after you get the boat.

Also, I have all of the DLC familiarsplus the cat, and a handful of others. How do you decide which familiars to use? Do you pair them with the matching human or just use them as a backup once your main familiar's stamina runs out?

I just used them in battle until I decided if I liked them or not. Maybe not the best way but it seemed to work for me. I also got a little influence by looking at the guide to see what they would acquire when they level up.

I don't remember their names, but they're mostly random ones that I caught and kept without any strategic reasons

Oliver: Griffy, Mite (second form), the one who hatched in the forest (second form)

Swaine and Esther usually just use the one they already had before I met them, anyway

[Show spoiler]Set your allies to Don't Do Anything, and do the heavy lifting in combat yourself. Successful defense will produce golden glims which will do way more damage for you than any amount of active attacking by your allies. Also take away any familiars that do not have excellent magic defense from rotation, as they will cause problems even when defending (they'll still take a lot of damage due to their low magic defense).
no I didn't, but I'll try it the next time I play

I need tips for leveling up and feeding the familiars..

btw, I'm new to rpgs that's why I'm confused

He's on the cliffs above the Temple of Trials (The Genie's Steps). You need the dragon to get to that area, as there's no walking path up there.

High defense/high magic defense is a huge priority, so you need at least a few familiars of that sort (1 for each team member). I recommend evolving 3 Hullaballoon for this, since you get him so early (Old Smoky).

A high Attack stat is useful, particularly with familiars that have strong physical skills (which is why Dinoceros is so good, as he has outstanding Attack and Defense, and his Earsplitter skill is learned early and hits all enemies).

Magic Attack isn't particularly handy except for familiars who have healing skills. Generally speaking Oliver is a stronger magician than most familiars, and the ones that are better at magic than he is are usually too fragile to be useful.

I finally had a half hour to play this game.

And I think I had control of a character for about 30 seconds.

I realize they were introing the story, but yeesh. I used to hate this about Final Fantasy games.

I was just thinking the exact same thing!

But after I think an hour or so you get to world map and can start leveling up. There's still a lot of tutorial going on at this point too.

I've just spoke to the old guy in the woods and I'm off to sort out guy

Drippy, my god, welsh accent and he's called drippy lol I love it.

Farming Tokos sure is fun lol sucks their spawn rate is little slow though. 2k xp at this level is pretty sweet but its time to move on though need to finish up some bounty hunts.

For those of you who just got the Dragon... or are just about there... Once you get the Dragon, I would very much recommend heading back to the Trails place and use the Dragon to access the mountain above it in order to catch a Dinoceros.

I have leveled one to its max levels through its 1st two stages and here are its beginning stats for its final morph.

Mine did that too... But on the 1st two I ran into.

Griffy is on my bench now for me. Loved him but Catastroceros's Earsplitter is already hitting for 400+ damage.

Griffy has carried my team pretty much all game now but now its time where others can start taking over. Im go catch a few must have monsters and go Toko farming with Griffy lol easy 8k xp, although I did get a few double toko kills for 16k xp
