Japan Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch [Level 5 x Ghibli] - $4.99 DL in SCEA Flash Sale

Quote:
Level-5 forgot to mention one bit about the game's release: a hardware bundle is on the way! Famitsu has a first look this week as the PS3 Ni no Kuni Magical Edition bundle. This bundle includes a special PS3 colored a mix of white and magical gold (presumably like the game's logo).

The bundle is priced ¥33,780. The game on its own is priced ¥8,800.

The PlayStation 3 version of Level-5's Studio Ghibli tie-up RPG Ni no Kuni finally has a release date. This week's Famitsu reveals that the game will arrive on November 17. It will carry a price of ¥8,800, placing it among the higher profile PlayStation 3 titles.

Huh? Wait, what?

Wasn't Ni No Kuni supposed to be for the Nintendo DS? How did it suddenly morph from a handheld game into a PS3 game? (NOT that I'm complaining, mind you!)

It's still coming out for the DS, when they announced the DS version they also announced a console version and now we know which console it's going to go to

Not totally surprising. Level-5 does like developing games for Sony and Nintendo but I suppose they could have made it into a PSP game or even PS2 for that matter but in HD would even be better considering how good Ponyo looked in HD. But this could explain why the DS version kept getting delayed.

Niiiice. If they're using pre-rendered backgrounds I wonder if they'll push for native 1080p. And PlayStation Move support.

As I said, totally not complaining!

It's just a pleasant surprise. I would have expected it to be a Wii title, if anything, due to somewhat better audience synergy.

Speculation on my part: Maybe Studio Ghibli wanted an HD version, which left the Wii off the list. Microsoft and Level 5 probably still aren't on good terms after the True Fantasy : Live Online debacle back in 2006. So maybe the PS3 selection makes more sense than I first thought.

- Apparently the subtitle translates to Queen of White Ashes
- It will release in 2011
- It's a different game than the DS version so it's not a port.
- Will get its own version of Magic Master Book (DS version
- PS Move compatibility was not mentioned

More pics on the OP

Why do you say that? I think it has at least a 95% chance of coming to America.

I hope this comes out in America as well. I noticed that Joe Hisaishi has something to do with the music too. The trailer mentioned something about 3D, but in Japanese. Is this going to be a 3D game?

Hope it comes to America, and with an option for Japanese audio like Valkyria Chronicles had. Since it's not multiplat with 360, it should be doable. Looks great. I love the bit in the Japanese trailer when they point out it has a world map. Zing, FF13!
