Can you download from the net (on a ps3) strait to a external hard drive connected to the ps3. And can you download strait from the net (on a ps3) strait to a memory stick (SD, MS, MMC, CF etc.)?

yes you can download straight to Memory stick etc and to a external drive. Note the external drive must be formated to FAT32 in order for the PS3 os to see it.

What I want to be able to do is download from my computer to my PS3 via the wireless connection. When can I do that?

Right now. You just need to set your computer up with a server. If you have XP you can enable IIS in the Add/Remove Programs and set up a virtual directory.
