I had Netflix for a couple years and switched to BB total access, cause you got to swap in movies at the store. But ive noticed that recently all the BR movies on BB online have very long waits and there is only one BB store where I live that carries BR in store and its not very close to me. I live in San Jose, CA. So I asked my friend who still has Netflix about BR availability and gave him a list of movies to look up on Netflix and he told me they were all available and one new release had short wait. I couln't believe it, BB could care less about online there goal is to offer it but still want you in there store as much as possible. So right now I am grandfathered in on their 3 movies at a time and unlimite in store swap for 19.99 , which is a $34 now. I also get the e-coupon once a month which i use for a game rent($8 value). I picked up the $4.99 netflix 2 a month plan just to get the BR movies I want. I've considered dumping BB but my kids and I like going in store once or twice a month. And I'm grandfathered in on such a good deal and i like the game rent. BB needs to start catoring to the BR customer more now, especially since the format war is over. Thoughts?

Blockbuster Online is great. The store by my house has a good BD selection. Netflix sucked for me because half the discs I ever got were scratched.

Blockbuster was bad, but I had to find out the hard way that Netflix is worse! There's many new movies that I want to see on blu-ray that remain on long or very long wait (including some that came out weeks ago like "We own the Night" and "No Reservations"). Same goes for their dvd versions. I'm canceling before my next bill date. One day I'll go back to blockbuster, at least you can get the dvd versions (and some blu's) in store.

sounds like i should try netflix again considering you say they were all ready to ship and 80% of my BB are long wait or shortwait. plus netflix has that view online thing which is nice if you dont have a movie and want to just watch somthing in bed on your laptop.

Is there any way you can make a poll? It would be interesting to see what the members here use.

I was on BB, but all the BD's I had queued were on long wait all the time. So I went to Netflix, which seems to do me a bit better. Neither one is great for any HD media, but I think I give a slight nod to Netflix. Might be different if my local BB rentred BDs, but they don't.

I currently have BB and even though most of them say there is a long wait for them I usually don't wait that long. ID4 said it was a very long wait but it just got sent to me

Most of the time my long waits get skipped, I did get one long wait recently though. I cancelled Gamefly for this reason, $16 a month for a game rent and I never got the game I wanted and it was like a 3-4 day turnaround.

Netflix for me, have had them for several years and have only had maybe 5 scratched/broken discs. I tried BB several times, and the turnaround was just too long, it often skipped movies claiming to be available, and I didn't care for going to the local store so I kept canceling. There's a Netflix center here in Spokane, unlike BB which was in Seatte, so turnaround is much quicker.
I haven't tried renting BD on Netflix though, so I can't comment on that. I will probably wait until they get bigger stock as the media becomes more mainstream. |

The great part of Blockbuster Online is that after I get a movie in the mail, I can bring it to a nearby store and rent another movie for free. Even better, is that they send my new movie immediately, even before they receive my original movie. It doesn't get much better than that.

BLOCKBUSTER ONLINE SUCKS!!!!!
Wow I feel a bit better now. I personally love the BB v. NF topic. Not only does BB's online Blu selection suck big time, but when I was a member I never actually got a Blu shipped to me because of the constant very long wait. I was able to get a few from the stores, but it was really hit or miss. Once BB raised their prices there was no reason to stay with their garbage plan service. Netflix is not the cureall, but they are getting better. There are still somewhat long wait times, but you get to see movies alot faster with NF than you ever will with BB. I was very frustrated by all of this for long a time, but I have learned to have some patience. Unfortunatly no one is really doing what needs to be done with Blu. I think Blu does bring with a justifyable rental cost increase and would glady pay a little extra if places would get a stock sufficient enough to cut wait times out. |

I had Netflix for a while but cancelled a couple months ago because they always skipped over the new release Blu-ray's and sent something else lower in my queue. I tried Blockbuster and so far have enjoyed it. They have sent almost every new release except for 30 Days of Night. They sent me Hitman this past week on Friday even though it said long wait. Plus I have noticed that Blockbuster has several director's cuts and special editions that Netflix didn't have.
By the way, to the above post that complained about Gamefly, I just wanted to say that I have had no problems with them at all. I keep only the games that are coming out in my queue and they send them to me the day they come out and I have been doing that for over a year. |

Netflix has a great selection and I've never gotten a scratched disc. Shipping is extremely fast since they have several local distribution centers in this area. The watch now feature is also amazing. If you have a fast connection, the video is very very near dvd quality.

well it's been decided. They both suck. So just buy Blu's blind, and if it sucks, so be it.
