Any idea on ETA? When you say future firmware upgrade, is it as in the next update? Or 2009?

It won't be anytime soon. Though I'm glad that it's coming.

I would imagine the April Store make over to come first. Hopefully a month or so after that the profile 2.0/DTS MA upgrade,

Exactly. Once the BD50 is out with the same features (and Sony is prepping the S550 with the same features) they should be able to put out the Profile 2.0 and DTS-HD MA update.

The PS3 is just an amazing electronic work of art. Can't remember the last time I was as pleased with a product.

So then would the PS3 start doing passthrough or decoding into lossless PCM like it is now?

And whats the deal with DTS-HD MA? I thought that DTS-HD would be the standard for blu ray, that or Dolby HD

If the player can decode DTS-MA do you still have to have a receiver that can

You will still need a receiver that has hdmi inputs and can process multichannel PCM.

I have an Onkyo 604 and I just ordered the 705. Should I save the $600 if it won't make a difference

If you're planning to use the PS3 as the only BD player for a long time, and you don't really need HD audio bitstream, then a multi-channel PCM capable receiver is all you need. DTS-HD MA & Dolby TrueHD receiver is not required.

I bought the Yamaha RX-V1800 because it's possible that I'll be getting a HD audio bitstream capable player in the future, and **maybe** PS3 can do it in the future.
