"As we wrapped up, we asked Mr. Lucas about the plans for "Star Wars Saga" on Blu-ray Disc as I took the picture above, but we got sidetracked by that and never got a response about a timeframe."

That was the most important question to ask!!! How do you get sidetracked!

Side tracked ? It's the more important questions, who cares about anything else SW than their upcoming to HD ?!

That's the worst picture of George Lucas I've ever seen. He looks like a bloated mob boss.

Default George Lucas On "INDY 5", "STAR WARS 3D"

(FOUND THIS INFO AT WWW.DARKHORIZONS.COM -- GREAT MOVIE SITE)

Lucas on Indy 5, Star Wars 3D & "Tails"
By Garth Franklin, Thursday, December 4th 2008 12:45am

George Lucas shows up at American Cinematheque's 23rd annual award presentation honoring Samuel L. Jackson and ComingSoon.net managed to snag him for a few questions.

Is he seriously looking at an Indy V? "We're looking for a "MacGuffin," which is an object that he goes after. They're very hard to come by."

Will Marion and Mutt be involved? "It really depends on what it is Indy goes looking for and then how the story falls out of that, and then how convenient or inconvenient to have the group there."

Will we see "Star Wars" in 3D? "Oh yeah. The technology is very difficult. It exists - it's just extremely expensive, and so what we're trying to do is figure out a more practical way of pulling it off."

Finally he says his Tuskegee Airmen project "Red Tails" is currently casting and will begin shooting in the spring with Anthony Hamilton directing.

it's because they never will. scratch that, lucas will probably put them on bluray, keep them for himself, and maybe auction one copy off on ebay for 2 million.

Well Star Wars in 3D will have something going for it, but Indy 5, c'mon Lucas, the cow's out of milk, don't try to Nuke the Fridge again.

Only that it seemed to take FOREVER. Someone will probably post some dates soon (date DVD started showing up in stores, the date SW Trilogy finally made it to DVD). I remember buying an asian import because it took too damn long.

Edit - I think they came out Release Date: September 21, 2004 (Amazon), and when did DVD catch on, 1998? Going by fuzzy memory on that one...

at this point he's just known to take forever to release stuff, and then rereleases it, and rereleases it, and rereleases it, so you never know which version will be the best. i think the trilogy special edition has been released on dvd like 3 times now in various sets. time to move on to the future of movies...BLURAY!

but like i said in another thread, as much as it sucks, it is lucas' decision how and when he decides to bluify star wars.

March 1997 was US date for DVD players...Star Wars came out at least 7 years after that...don't remember what year.

And then the releases came..."the original movies will never be released" well...then they did, but only individually with a special edition release...and then another set...and then another set...

You're right, I believe it was 2004, a long time after DVD launched.

My guess is the Star Wars Blu-rays will arrive shortly before or after the 3Ds hit the theaters.

and they hit dvd shortly after dvd took off. they weren't expected to be on dvd the minute dvd hit the market. or anywhere shortly after that. mass adoption or something close to that needs to happen first. it's how most entertainment works. worked that way for cd's.

Star Wars
just might help that mass adoption everyone's predicting. However, I'm completely fine with the dvds. They look great, for the time being...

I have to second the above comment. The last installment was a big let down. It would be madness to churn out another below par offering. But I guess that has not stopped anyone in the past when a profit can be made.
