+1 on that. Bought it a while ago and got round to watching it (seen it before of course, I never buy blind!).

The PQ and AQ are not great of course but fine for a film like this - almost feels like a documentary at times which is to its credit I think! I thought the lossy track was rather good in places for a lossy track - there are a few bits outside with explosions, gunfire etc which sounded fine to me. Picked it up for £5 so Im happy with that!

I have had this on my wishlist for a long time and have just kept putting buying the Blu-Ray off. Love this film, one of the best War films ever made.

Just picked up the Canadian release. Here's my review: https://www.blu-ray.com/community/?a...views&u=177847.

I just read it, but in your opinion is it worth importing the CA release when I already have the UK release?

In my opinion, yes. In the video department, it's only a small improvement over the UK release. But the audio is really where this one stands out over the UK release. I listened to the bombing sequence at the beginning side by side, and the UK one just doesn't even come close to the audio track on this one. So you won't be getting much of an improvement in the video department, but if you are looking for an audio upgrade, purchase confidently.

About that Canadian release.
What video codec is this, also what is the average video bitrate?

It's not listed on the back of the case, that's for sure. How would I check for that? If I can do it from my PS3 then I'll check when I get home.

I just bought this on ebay, but have no idea what version this is. It looks like the UK cover, but it says "Phantom Vision & Sound". Does anyone know where i can find some information on it?

I have the UK disc and am quite pleased with it, especially since it was so cheap - under $10. The cheapest I've found the Canadian disc to import to the US is $27. I love the movie, but the DD 5.1 track on the UK release sounds pretty great and very dynamic when called upon which in this movie is kind of infrequently.

The U.K. disc is region free and the CA disc is also region A friendly. Take your pick.

Does anyone know which version is better image wise? Canadian blu ray or German blu ray?

Should be the same with the minor DNR as has been released across the globe. The major difference in the CA disc versus the rest is lossless audio.

I've been wanting to upgrade my US DVD release. I guess the CA release is the way to go. DVD beaver compares the UK Blu ray to the DVDs and it does look much better.

Yes but subtitles are burnt in the UK release. In the CA release the subs are optional.
