I'm sure Lionsgate will be happy about this. I felt a little sorry for them having the first BD-Live title out but not having any players that could take advantage of it yet.

Anyway, good news on the update and sooner than I expected.

Sweet. We finally get BD-Live on our PS3's. Now where is our DTS-HD Master Audio? Come on Sony. You know we want it.

Mosquito Noise is the type of picture noise that kind of looks like shimmering around objects on the screen. It's a compression artifact and more prevalent in SD DVD than in HD DVD or Blu Ray. I have Mosquito NR available on my XA2 (through the Silicon Optix HQV chipset). I leave it on during SD playback and off during HD playback.

Hi-Def media should have very little Mosquito Noise (if any). Don't mistake noise for grain (which may be intentionally present).

I would probably say you don't need it for BR playback -- and should reserve it for SD playback.

I still want a clock display option and Auto-Shutoff after a certain amount of idle time...

The PS3 is just an awesome console. I am not too much into the BD live thing, but it is very nice to get the update.

They'll but BD-Live on (so people can play the movies with new content and capability), but will withhold DTS-HD MA until after the new players are out to give the makers of THOSE players some sort of marketability. Within two months (three if they really want to drag it out...) of THAT release, you'll see MA come to PS3
The fact that the PS3 is the 1st BD-Live player released means there's not much to that theory any more.

This alone will make the update worth it. Can't wait!
