Angry Amazon shipping????

i order "I am Legend" and "I Robot" on blu-ray sunday, i paid for the only shipping they offered 3-5 days what ever it is, it shipped on monday and is still not here, why would any one pay for the shipping when the free shipping always get there in the same amount of time. I always order movies from amazon it seems like on Sunday, dont know why, but that is the day it seem i end up ordering something, but i usually use the free shipping, and i always get it in the mail by friday. I paid for the shipping this time hoping to get it earlier in the week. Why would anyone pay for the shipping if it gets here in the same amount of time as the free shipping. sorry just needed to vent i was just looking forward to watching them tonight.

For the most part, amazon has been good to me as well. I do have an issue with pre-orders though. They always arrive a day after release date

I ordered Hitman from Buy.com last the day of release. The movie shipped last Friday, and I am still waiting.

I bought Gattaca Tuesday, received today with free shipping. Being close to the DE distribution center helps

Do you live in an extremely rural area? That might explain it.

no it on the rural area. we live in the fort smith Ar. area and its not rural , i judt thought that is was weird that i will be receiving it in the same amount of time as when i choose free shipping guess i am going to get amazon prime, and just use the free shipping till then.

The reason someone would pay for shipping 3-5 days is that the "free shipping" can take longer then that. In some cases free shipping bumps you down the line and can delay your actual shipment date. Some people can also wait more then a week for free shipping. Please see the below:
Quote:
Please note that your order may take an additional 3 to 5 business days to ship out from our fulfillment center(s). Transit time for Super Saver Shipping orders is 5 to 9 business days after shipping.
If you always get you movies within a week I wouldnt bother paying for the shipping as its not meant for people like you. You are actually still within your window its "shipped" Monday so technically they have until Monday to get it to you. You cant always "hope" that you get it sooner. You might not even see that much of an improvement with Prime.

Amazon Prime is KEY!

I'm seriously thinking about doing what others are doing and signing up more people to my account to share the costs...

Amazon prime is great. Every order I have made since signing up has been delivered the next day without springing for the $3.99 next day shipping charge. I would highly suggest getting together with 4 other people and signing up at $16/each.

Strange, I have found that when you do the free shipping, they seem to hold onto the order for a couple days extra, then ship it. But when I pay for standard shipping, I get it relatively fast, almost every time.

I've noticed that Amazon's international shipping to Japan has gone down the crapper as of late. I used to get discs in about a week, now it takes 2-3 weeks.

Their "Expedited" international shipping doesn't seem to be any different. I had a single disc mailed using this recently, and it took the same amount of time, and it was sent through regular air mail. No tracking number was provided, and I didn't have to sign for it or anything. Yeah, that's real fast and safe...

I don't know whats been up with Amazon lately. But lately for me, I have placed orders and the items haven't even been shipped until 4 or more days later. One order I made on the 8th and it got shipped on the 12th and I didn't get it until the 20th. Granted the 8th/9th were Sat and Sun, but still it didn't get shipped until Wed. The shipping time being 8 days, well thats what I get for getting the cheap shipping. Even with my pre-order of I Am Legend; I made the purchase on the 16th and the status shows that the shipping estimate is the 24th. Now that is ridiculous imo. I used to shop at Amazon and I would receive the package a few days later; even with the free shipping. Anyone else having ridiculously slow transactions as of late with Amazon?

I'm in the large city of LA too btw.

Yeah get yourself a Prime account and you will never worry about this ever again. It will pay for itself in the short term, not the long term, that is how great Prime is.
