Well, crap. Guess it's time to unload my still-sealed "North By Northwest" I bought during January's U&S and my copy of "Psycho". I NEED this set!

Yah, I guess I'll unload both of mine as well. I haven't opened NBNW yet, either.

Now I have to decide if I should just get this collection, or go for the Masterpiece Collection

I bought the whole collection and enjoyed more films than the ones in the masterpiece collection..I really enjoyed Torn Curtain, Topaz, Saboteur quite a bit
This is the first of many many *milk it for all its got* Universal Hitchcock releases I bet

I agree. They'll probably release the other ones in another set very soon, as well.

Seriously? Still no singles of Vertigo or Rear Window?

I would have picked up the big box set last year if the packaging was more to my liking.

Alas, I will keep waiting since I already own 2 of the 5 movies as singles...

You hear that Universal?

I have all these on DVD and I promised myself I was going to be content with them and not upgrade, but this box set is so tempting. Maybe if Universal does things right with the packaging (i.e. no cardboard sleeves), then I'll probably go for it.

It might sound odd since I started the thread, but I won't be buying this. Like others have said, there are others in the Masterpiece Collection that I would want. Actually, I want all of his films, but there are ones like The Man Who Knew Too Much just as much as some of these.

Amazon has pre-orders up for individual releases of the 14 titles from that collection (excluding North by Northwest since they don't actually own it). There's no way of knowing when they will come out or if they ever will though.

I'll probably pick this up. Only have North by Northwest and I was going to import The Birds and Psycho from the UK. This has all the films I'm really interested in for a pretty decent price.

So why not just buy The Masterpiece Collection if you want all the films?

These are indeed the "essential" Hitchcock films but since I already own North by Northwest, I'll just wait for the individual releases...

Or you could sell off your copy of NbNW and get this instead..Something that actually makes more sense right now even.

I might end up doing that but between now and June, I'll just wait and see what happens.

I like all of these movies, but I am still watching the price of the Masterpiece Collection. I'd rather have that, but not at the current price.

I'd still suggest you lock in the current price now as Amazon has a tendency to switch from their 30% off pre-order discount to a 10% one. At roughly $11 a movie, this is a very good deal. Even if the remaining titles came out individually they'd likely be more than that each.

I have a lot of movies to watch right now and it's been fairly expensive since release, so I've had no problem waiting on it. Reasonable per movie, but still a good amount all at once.

Maybe by the time I get around to wanting to get The Masterpiece Collection, they will actually do individual releases. I don't care for the packaging on the collection, but will make do if I have to.

Where have you been? The masterpiece collection has been out for months. Why in the hell would anyone want this when the blu-rays are already out?

Because an option that's 3 times less than the masterpiece collection and contains the most popular titles from it is such a terrible idea
