Playstation Home achievements???? - Blu-ray Forum

hey folks- I'm very close to purchasing a 40GB PS3 and have a question about Home and I'm having trouble wording it, so bear with me... I am wondering if anyone knows if since Home is not going to be released for several months, what happens to all those achievements that have been earned in the games for all the PS3 owners now, when Home does not exist? Will these people have to earn the achievements, or trophies, all over again? I never thought this would matter much to me, especially when the XBox 360 achievements started, but the truth is it's pretty cool, and Playstations version looks to be even better. Thanks in advance!!!!!

As long as your save file still exists, Home should automatically give you the trophies.

For some games it's definitely not a guess.

Devil May Cry 4, for instance, tracks your achievements on the network. I get notifications when my friends have cleared various achievements and missions, and that's not possible if it's not being tracked online.

It definitely would depend on the game in my opininon. I'm quite sure that Sony updated their dev kits to include stuff for accomplishments not too long ago though, and anything made with that system should be automatic - ie. you shouldn't have to go back and earn them again.

I'm doubtful on some of the older games, but if they are high profile, who knows.

yeah like I doubt if you destroyed every rec. in madden 07 you'd get it when it came out, but who knows lol

It's most likely a game by game issue. I know Warhawk is updating with HOME stuff, so perhaps when HOME finally comes out, all the achievements (or whatever) will be there.

My biggest question is about the trophy room. Is it public? Can people see it without me needing to invite them? If not, the PS3 will continue to play 2nd fiddle to the 360.

Most likly will be a means similar to GamerCards that a simple xml query can retrieve most data. But prolly not the render space of the trophies.

I still think it'll be awesome to walk around the maps in Uncharted with friends. That sounds like the neatest feature ever.

Also, couldn't games just send out an update to include HOME achievement systems (for the older games)?

They won't even guarantee that it will be out in 2008, so don't hold your breath.

I just want 360-like in-game bar, cross-chat, etc.

Yes, they could just patch the game, should they want to.

I don't know if that'll be required though, so I wouldn't bank on it happening.

Some titles, we know there are going to [Warhawk for instance].

I think all High profile developers will update their games so you automatically get trophies (or at least I hope), I really do not want to do all the races in Motorstorm again, just give me my trophies lol

I believe all first party games will be up to date and par as far as achievements and you shouldn't worry an ounce about them...3rd party games are anybody's guess..I'm guessing msot of them will come through though.

I think it's cool they are doing accomplishments, but come on I want a gamerscore on my ps3 like what I have for my 360.
