Default upgrading Reciver--Marantz ,Onkyo, Denon

Well been reading alot of info here about all the new recievers,Checked out price & specs , I can get a great deal on the Onkyo 705 .My Daughter works at Circuit city ,Been really tempted.looked at the Denon did'nt really impress me much .But I have owned two Marantz systems .And what can I say I'm loyal to them ,The SR7002 has everything I wanted and the name Marantz has never let me down top EQ .I know its alot more money BUT I think its worth it.

If any one has any info on it please LMK if you like it..thanks for your time sandman

If I recall correctly, Marantz is still the same brand as Onkyo. However, Marantz is their "elite" line of products (which is another way of saying "the exact same thing with a different case and a bigger price tag").

I say go for the 705. Unless you are literally constructing the room from scratch (drywall and the whole nine yards) with high end in-wall speakers, you won't need much more to have incredible sound. Plus, like you said, you can get a good deal on it. Maybe look into the Onkyo 805?

no no no.... integra is onkyo's premier line... marantz and denon arebrothers & sisters...
if you ask me... i would demo the 805 and the comparable marantz model... i have heard nothing but good things from the marantz reviews and owners...and if i didnt already have the 805 it would surely be my next choice...

Aaaaahhh, yes! Of course! Thank you for the correction. And I agree whole-heartedly with this suggestion to demo both units before purchasing......... but then that good deal factor comes back into play...... WHAT ON EARTH IS HE GOING TO DO?!?!? All I can do in anticipation is

hey no problem...it happens to the best of us...
well...if he can get a killer deal on the 705...then it should be no problem on the 805, i guess... it all boils down to how much of a discount it is. i'm the type of a person that gets the best bang for the buck...even if its a couple hundred dollars more. with all i learned about the 805...if i would have got the 705 i know i would always sit there...listening to uncompressed pcm audio...saying to myself "i wonder what it would have sounded like with the 805 at reference leve?" some people dont have that issue...i wish i was one of them

I would get the Marantz for sure! I have one and I love it to death!! Wouldn't even consider buying anything else now. Just buy it, you won't even care about the extra money once you have it for a month or two. They are that much better.

Thanks for the info, But as we know it Marantz is its own brand as Onkyo & Denon ,Marantz was bought by Philips Elec.A few years ago and they revamped them brought them back to life.I work for Philips Elec. , so When I put my new system together 12 years ago I bought all marantz EQ. through out Employee store ,we go 330% off I had all the top EQ at the time .
AV-600 Pros,DP-870.AC-3 Pros.,CD-63-CD player,DVD -18 THX DVD player,MA-500 Mono Block AMPS-5 of these,CDC-100-100-Disc changer-8 of these linked together- SVHS -VCR--& Laser disc Player fogot a few Model Numbers. Also ran a Sony Vido Selector & Adcom Speaker Selector -All Monster cable & KLIPSCH speakers.Had the KG 5.5 towers for Music & KG.2.5 for Home theater 5 of these with the KSW -15" sub.. this system was KILLER..as I said this was my 1st marantz and i loved it to death it rocked hard and was awsome..
Now Philips sold Marantz a few years ago to D&M Holding which owns Onkyo & Denon but still are seperate companies. I'm not starting from scratch I have a total system ,just upgrading as for spearkes all ready have the Klipsch Reff's seriers ..And I already know the Marantz sound & Qault. I did go check out the Onyko Stuff the other day not bad but not built like the Marantz EQ.

bottom line I can get the Marants SR-7002 list price $1,400.00
I can get it for $1,150.00 & the Onkyo Sr-705 for $500.00 or the Onkyo sr -805 for $700.00

I really have made up my mind to go with the Marantz I just like it so much and to me the build Qual. & rep is the winning factor ..thanks for you thoughts ..

LOL I know what you mean ,But the 805 is just giving more power which is not a big factor to me I have a med, room size so 100 watts is really alot with th Klipsch speaker set up.. & I know the bang for the buck theroy is smart i agree also..

Don't want to start anything, but don't waste your money on Monster cables. Get your HDMI and speaker cables from monoprice.com. ESPECIALLY the HDMI cable. No sense paying $200 for a $10 quality cable. You won't even notice a difference.

LOL. I understand your opin. But sorry Always have been a Monster fan and lomg time Audio Video geek and I have read both sides of the story , But I have to disagree I like th Monster and it must make some kind of difference if they are still in biss. LOL..Any ways I already have the Monster cables .The 1st ones I bought the 500 2-meter & the 400 1-meter i did buy off a guy on e-bay got both cables for the price of one at best buys.so no to bad and the new M-1000 cables got graet discounts from my daughter that works at Circuit City LOL & The Monster Power center got that half price for $150.00 when I bought my HP Plasma at Best Buy ,So i really make sure i find the best possible deal & price .I never pay retail for much lol
