There is a Mutator you can download, then you can play the game with 3rd person view (like GearsOfWar) and there is also a MK 3rd person view

sad thing is isn't it already obvious? the truth is microsoft and epic secretly knows that the 360 can't handle mods yet because it's not powerful enough. so they came up with this bs saying "microsoft doesn't allow mods" to prevent the 360 from looking bad against the ps3 since it can handle mods. they're using this bs as a cover-up until epic can make mods work on the inferior 360. but if epic can't find a way to work mods on the 360 before the end of 2008, they're just going to release it before 2009 keeping the "microsoft doesn't allow mods" bullshit, or they might even cancel it to prevent the 360 from looking as bad as it already is.

Awsome! I had already found the first third person mod - I just forgot to edit my post.
But now im gonna have to try out that farther back one as well.
I'd much rather have the farther back one.

You know for not being "official professional" models, Those mods are freaking awesome the mc really does look better then the xbox 360 version. and if i remember did they not say that halo 3 was not up to gears graphical fidelity because they could not have that level of detail and still run at a high frame rate my master chief looks and runs fabulous.

what are you ranting about? UT3 360 as of right now--will not have user mods because of Xbox Live, its a closed environment. It has nothing to do with the power or capability of the 360.

I think the reason the models look so good is because they're straight conversions of the originals. It just looks like some of you think they're original work...

Gears of War and Halo are both on the PC, same with Crysis. So taking those models and porting them isnt difficult at all.

so are they better looking on pc than on xbox 360 ? i mean personaly i played halo on pc and could never understand the hype about it .it seemed very ordinary (at best ) .as for gow i saw it on xbox360 and the graphics seemed ordinary to me ( i mean the enviornment ,the characters were good ) but didnt play it . but i didnt see the gow on pc . which version is better ?

Gears of War uses the same Unreal engine as UT3. Wouldnt' be surprised at all if those are an easy port over.

Happens all the time there are programs that can look into extract and make copies of texture files etc..

I will use a project I did once as a example.

There was a video that I really wanted on a ps2 disc, of a mech game, the cgi was beautiful.. I ran a tool that extracted the video file as a mpeg2 and wave file (wave for the audio) then you use another tool to bring the two files back together and resync...

It was a process that took 3 or or so sets of programs to make these extractions but I got it, and I was happy, I could show the cgi to my friends.

Now ill use a pc experiment, there are tools on the pc that let you look into the texture files and copy out the texture files, which is sometimes how some companies get into trouble they leave some "naughty" texture files sometimes including full nudity into there game texture files these textures are sometimes not even used or ever meant to be seen by the gamer.

This one tool could extract and inject a new texture file directly into a *pc game* things like this have been used in the past, I do not have the names of the programs but you will find they exist.

Now with ps3 games that would be even more difficult not many people own a blu-ray drive in which to look into the file system of the disc.

True but i believe that epic said somewhere that ut3 was using an updated version of unreal engine which is why it looks a "little" better than gears and gears 2 is running the same version as ut3 but better optimized hence the hundred or so characters on screen. with little to no lag. Also the halo mod is from complete scratch it's the master chief from 3 the modder "said" it was from scratch anyway, as is the spawn one and the berserker..

Usually moddlers will throw a 2d multi angle reference into the 3d programs to ensure that they are consistent especially measurements.

This might be why its so close reference pictures based on the original is extremely possible and very easy to get a good 3d set of ref pictures.

Left, Right, Top and bottom.

Now lets just wait and see all the cool anime based characters, zakus, gundams, sailormoon, street fighter, heck why not some killzone too hehehe..

Look at Spawn, hes not a port and well done! the best looking character so far.
