PS3 2.20 Update issues - Blu-ray Forum

I was playing MGS3 after I did my 2.20 update now it keeps messing up ....I get a flashing CD and "?" in the top left ...WTF anyone else having 2.20 issues?

I could never get MGS3 to work right, 2.2 or not. 80 gig?

Mine always worked I just got back into playing it

Hmm . . . that is strange. The 60 gig should work fine. I've got the 80 (which I traded my 60 gig for . . . which I regret) and it doesn't work. Maybe restart it and try it again?

I just played through that the other week, then finished MGS2. I was going to go through MGS3 to get ready for MGS4, but I hit that nice little snag, which, is basically denied to exist by Sony.

I never beat MGS1, MGS2 I beat , MGS3 I havent beat yet either

MGS3 is listed as a "backwards compatible" title on the PS site, but there are MANY reports of it freezing up and needing to be restarted. I emailed Sony about it and they basically said it's not their fault.

im betting its because the 80GB has that stupid software emulation in it and not hardware emulation. good thing i have my trusty 20GB

i don't know what's up but my system froze three times in a row within, one minute of each round i was playing on warhawk. i was in a game when a friend called and said he had to update to 2.20 and i finished a game and logged out to get the new firmware. logged back in and started having problems. the worst part is this happened at 8.10pm pst after SCEA closed for the day. so i'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to report it.

Damn i was really enjoying gtting back into MGS3, figured by the time i beat it MGS4 would be out

try hitting "O" when you see that. it does it to me sometimes too and that helps. you might need to do it a few times.

however, seems like quite a few people are having problems, i won't be downloading this until it gets fixed.

Word of advice: Please don't update so fast. Wait until everything is clear and stable.

I update when the "system update" available message pops up ...+ its the only way to get your buddy list

If everybody did that it would take longer to find the bugs and get them reported so that they can be fixed.

Do you have a choice on taking the update if you want to sign in to PSN? I thought it was required. Anyway, on the thread topic, did anybody that has replaced their HDD have an issue after ithe update finished installing? When my PS3 tried to restart I got a message saying something like "Cannot Start - Wrong Hard Drive Detected" I thought oh shit, bad place for a bug, but by powering off completely and then restarting it appears to be working normally. Strange message though.

I could see a 2.23 update to fix up any issues with the 2.20.

somewhat it is similar to the 1.90 update with the xmb freezing but it was fixed later.

Call them, the email people do not read the emails and just copy and paste unrelated subjects...
