You and me both. Mark Frost recently hinted on Twitter that it should be coming out on Blu-Ray soon. And Warner Archive Collection told me on Facebook that Fire Walk With Me will be coming out on Blu soon, but not as a WAC release, so I'm hoping that they're going to release a Blu-Ray box set with the series and FWWM.

Speaking of Dune, I recently rewatched it and while it's my least favorite Lynch film and I don't like it enough to buy it, I didn't think it was that bad. The music is awesome in it!

you start with Blue Velvet. how has no one suggested this yet? its a great BD, with amazing extras, and cheap. what's the hold up?

can't wait for more Lynch on blu to be released in the US. I know the moment I import something it will be announced for here. I hope those TP rumors are true.

Yes, BLUE VELVET is great (obviously!) -- just ran it again the other day. And the deleted scenes are definitely a must-see, even if it's just as well some of them were deleted.

The Australian Blu-ray of ERASERHEAD is region-free and looks great, also, but Criterion should have it out in the US later this year. I really wish there would be a US Blu-ray release of MULHOLLAND DRIVE, the second-best Lynch film, but the German box set is tempting. Since INLAND EMPIRE was shot in standard-definition on mini-DV, there's really no great need to upgrade the DVD, which looks decent. It would truly be great if the entire TWIN PEAKS series comes out on Blu-ray.

From a video standpoint maybe not - though it's arguable as the blu does technically represent the source better; but the lossless audio makes the blu worthwhile, as sound design is an important feature of Lynch films.

I really couldn't agree more with this.
Unless using a small display with no sound system of course but then you would be missing a major element of what makes Blu Ray what it is. And as you suggest, sound being oh so critical to the atmosphere of Lynch's films.
-
Upgrading to Blu Ray has never failed to be a worthwhile upgrade in my experience.
Even on the rare occasions that the PQ isn't a huge upgrade, the sound upgrade alone is worth the purchase.
Of every Blu I own I can honestly say there is only one disc that failed to yield any improvement in PQ over the DVD (even on a 55" screen) and that is the Darren Aronofsky film Pi, which in fairness is B&W and looks like it was shot on a VHS handy cam anyway (not that I'm criticising mind, I love Aronofsky's work).

Just got the Region 0 box and I haven't looked at Inland Empire (the movie flat out sucks) but Mullholland Drive and particularly Lost Highway look and sound spectacular. I saw deep black wipes in Lost Highway that I haven't seen in any home video release, only in its theatrical run. Dark shadow detail and lack of detail is so important to that movie. It looks fantastic on my projection system.

I disagree! The first time I saw it I thought it was merely 'good' but I wasn't floored. The second time, I knew what to expect, what the structure and forms was like and loved every second of. There is no film like Inland Empire. It's Lynch's most underappreciated film.

I guess you just have to be a patient soul. To me it was more than twice too long and whenever it repeated sequences over again that I had already seen, I wanted to kill somebody.

Where did you get the Region 0 set from?
I'm thinking about ordering it - i'm tired of waiting for Mulholland Drive - one of my favorite films of all-time. But like someone on here said.....not long after i order it, a U.S. version of some sort will be announced....

I got the box through the link on this page...

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/David...Blu-ray/20724/

The features are region 0 and play fine. The supplements won't play, but I really don't mind much about that. I got Eraserhead in the Australian version here...

I'm with you on Inland Empire. I don't know how any fan of Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive wouldn't like it, either? I'm just now thinking of that cool scene where that Beck song kicks in, too. Great scene and great acting by Laura Dern throughout!

While I think Inland has many moments of pure genius and think it works as an experimental film, it is far from his best work and just doesn't gel together well as an actual 'film'. Dern's performance is unbelievably good though.

Well, I think it works an actual film and it's probably his purest Surrealist film, in my opinion. Then again, I do agree it's not is best film. For me, his best film is Lost Highway followed by Mullholand Drive.

For me he will never beat Elephant Man, but I know I am in a minority there.

I would then go

Twin Peaks Tv
Mulholland Drive
Fire Walk With Me
Lost Highway
Straight Story
Inland Empire
Blue Velvet
Wild at Heart
Eraserhead

Dune

That is usually the case, I have to order online because I can't find it in store then I'm in the store the week after getting it in the mail and what is on the shelf with 10 copies staring at me? The movie I just had to order!!
