Default The Mist - movie discussion (NO SPOILERS)

Yeah, I know this isn't on Blu-ray, but man, what a great movie! Gripping from start to finish. The script was excellent, especially in the depiction of the characters (well, within the confines of the horror genre). And it does not compromise (those who have seen it will know what I mean).

Very, very powerful film. A true nightmare movie. This decade's Night of the Living Dead.

Hope it gets released on BD on Germany or the Netherlands or wherever.

I'll have to netflix it...... Howard Stern was pumping up this movie, but he pumps up all sorts of garbage films....... god bless the almighty dollar!!!!

I thought the premise sounded interesting, but I completely forgot about this movie..... adding it now!!

Appreciate the thread.

I have to agree I loved this movie! Did anybody else think the ending was absolutely crazy?

Dang, now you're pushing me to buy the dvd. I already want to watch the movie, but have been debating buying it now on dvd or waiting for a Blu-ray release somewhere.

I really enjoyed this movie a whole lot more than I though I would!
Took me a bit to get over the role of Marcia Gay Harden, but it definitely belongs in the storyline.
If this will be released on BD definite buy for me!

I thought it was good too! Those creatures were very interesting. I loved the spiders and how they lay their eggs in the human bodies. The only thing I didn't like was that preacher lady. I wanted to shoot her! Very annoying!

It is a Stephen King adaptation..... The Shining was a great movie, but even that couldn't compare to the book...... and the rest of them???? Shawshank was based off of short stories, as was the Green-mile..... The Dark Half, Misery, IT, Carrie, Pet Semetary, Needful Things, etc. etc. were GREAT books, and terrible movies.

I'm a big King fan..... so I don't expect the movie to compare to the book, and I'm just glad that this is one of his books I haven't read yet!!!!!!

You know that Frank Darbont who did the Mist also did Shawshank and Green Mile? Bit of useless info for everyone

The same thing happened to me with another King adaptation, 1408 (which I found pretty mediocre), but this was much better.

Is any movie actually better than the book?

I liked it as well. I found the bible preacher annoying as well as, and I know I'll get hell for this, but the main characters little son was annoying as hell. All he did was cry and cry and whine and all you saw was the back of his head because he was clutching his for his father every 5 minutes. I don't think he had one full line of actual words.

But his dad stopped his crying. He stopped it good.

Yes, I'm going to hell. lol. See some of you guys there.

I think you proved my point...Great Books can become great movies if done right..i.e. Green Mile, ShawShank, Stand By Me..all King books...all great movies...Listen to the mist 3D audio book...then watch the movie...just doesn't translate well...and the ending for the MIST book would have been fine for the movie, but they went, well we all know where they went...
