Because Blu-Ray did not institute all of the proper specs at the onset i.e picture in picture, making some players unable to use all the proposed functions.
While I don't agree with the boycott, Blu-Ray is responsible for the delay of many discs: Matrix, Batman Begins etc. |

While I'm not an expert on this, Warners knew that Java was the software used for these features, could they not have asked Java to make it any way, so players w/ these features would work? Like I said, I'm not an expert. Also, what's wrong w/ Warners releasing the movies now and the special editions, w/ PiP, later, like they do w/ regular DVDs?
Studios have no problems releasing multiple special editions of one title on DVD, but on the next format, they resist. Why? |

PiP is one feature. I believe Warner knew they could use that excuse from the beginning. Of course, they didn't make an excuse for not providing the other Warner Bros titles that DON'T have PiP to Blu-ray. They should be, at least, releasing those titles at this point. They are showing terrible business practices when it comes to Blu-ray. I definitely can't put that on the BDA!
Yes, I'm a little upset with that situation. ![]() |

Just read the article. I don't have much to say about this article. He has clearly been paid to say what he said. Who in their right mind would say HD DVD is the safe HD choice? And, we all know that all Blu-ray players play all BDs, so what else is there to say about this? Last edited by Ascended_Saiyan; 04-13-2007 at 03:43 AM. |

It would have been a nice idea if Blu-Ray had all the specs intact initially, I have to clarify that I do not blame Blu-Ray-In fact I am furious with Warners for there lame P in P excuse for not releasing many of there titles on BLU-RAY. I could give two s___s about picture in picture. I also no longer read anything in DVD TOWN, even there reviews are slanted. |

There's 2 formats, and I have to sit on the fence. People want the info. I just put it on my forums, and I don't think it will cause some crash in Blu-ray sales.

If they had said "if you want to get Blu-ray, protect yourself by buying a PS/3" the article would have been fine. I actually agree that unless you know the situation and accept it, you shouldn't get a current BD stand-alone. But, get a PS/3. It's a great player, it does a heck of a lot extra, and it will play whatever they come up with. As I say, they are talking about adding TL51 to the HD DVD spec. Where are the concerns about that and current HD DVD players? Gary |

People are always going to find something to diss the other guy in any war. As long as we all know the truth about blu-ray being the best and the sure winner we are goog to go.

I think of the 18 Warner movies not on Blu-ray there are several that don't have IME, what's their excuse? Unless they're preparing LPCM or lossless tracks and encodes optimized for BD for those, I see none. |

You know, this article pisses me off....so much so that I am going to buy 2 or 3 BD's tomorrow "just, to spite them" lol
![]() ![]() ![]() I mean, how lame...people are used to DVD having some features only viewable on PC's, so really...whats the differance? Your movie will play, rewind, ffwd and you'll be able to access most things. I really don't see this as big enough an issue for A) me to upgrade a perfectly good player. Or B) most consumers to give a crap about and C) Enough movies carrying the features, or enough of a discs content containing BDJ for it to really matter. This is just a "SKY IS TEH FALLING" scenario that HDDVD shills live for. If the shoe was on the other foot, HDDVD tools would find a way to put a positive spin on it somehow. This guys article is misleading and imply's that your player won't work on movies later this year "at-all" which is BS. Meanwhile...HDDVD is the choice, the choice of a generation of HT enthusiasts who apparently enjoy skipping, freezing, error codes, stuttering, poor audio output, Incompatibility,HDMI/DVI errors, lossy audio tracks, limited studio/CE support etc. etc. etc. Last edited by BTBuck1; 04-13-2007 at 06:17 AM. |

The article is pure paid propaganda. It is really unfortunate that he would lead consumers into believing its safer to buy into a format (HD-DVD) with inferior specs, fewer studios, and much lower sales.
The HDDVD FUD machine is swinging into high gear in a last ditch effort to save HD-DVD from irrelevance. Also, I would mention that we are starting to get some real HD-DVD shills here spreading their lies and FUD. Last edited by crunchy; 04-13-2007 at 06:22 AM. |

Too bad Nielsen Videoscan strongly disagrees with your numbers. And so does Amazon, and DVDempire, and Amazon.uk, and Amazon.de, and Amazon.jp ![]() Why not let your customers know that Home Theater Magazine (a much more reputable source than the article you linked on your website) has just named the PS3 PRODUCT OF THE YEAR. ??
