Default Total lack of new title announcements

Okay, I have been getting BDs for about 2 1/2 months now, and have 135 total there is only a very few titles I am still wanting at this point. I have noticed that my enthusiasm for BDs have dropped due to the total lack of new title announcements. I guess with nothing (Much) to look forward to I have lost some interest. Out of all the upcoming ones announced there is about 11 I am looking forward to picking up, but that is over a 7 month period. Is anyone else feeling the lack of desire for BDs now that news has only been trickling out?

I don't know. Maybe it's just me but the recent announcements have been exciting for me. The Recruit, Gangs of New York and Batman Begins are all first day buys for me, as long as the Rambo Boxset, Rambo and the Dirty Harry Boxset. I'll be getting the giftset of Batman Begins too, so if they could hold off on some announcements I'd be find with that.

This is one of the slowest times of the year for releases. After Christmas, there really haven't been a lot of big movies to come out in theaters. As brogan said, there are quite a few good releases on the horizon, and this fall will be insane for all the summer blockbusters.

Things are picking up and they will continue to pick up. Once other studios get involved in putting out movies on BD then things will really pick up. Have hope my friend, don't let your enthusiasm wane. Give movies you don't want to buy a chance by renting them, rent movies that you normally wouldn't watch. Expand your horizons a little.

You purchase an average of 54 blu-rays per month....crazy....If you take the average cost of a blu-ray (Let's say $24), means you would have spent $1,296 in the last two months in a half on BLU-rays....

I have been buying since they first entered the market and I am stuck at 73. I guess my disposable income just doesn't cut it.

I purchased 50 or so in the past 2 months, but now I'm just waiting for new titles to be released..... I only buy movies I intend to re-watch several times..... if I bought everything I just wanted to "See" I wouldn't have my netflix account!

NCFOM was a great Blind-Buy though!

Glad someone did the math for him. I feel like I blow a lot of money on this stuff, but never that good. I think the news in general has been slow, but mainly beacuse for a few weeks after Warner announced we had great news a few times a day. As far as titles, it will get better once Para and Uni start announcing (not bringing that up to start another discussion as to when either)

To be honest I have not spent more than $20 for a movie, well one was 25 with shipping, but on avarage I spent lesst than $15 and I also got 20 discs free when we bought both of our players. The money I did spend was from selling our old DVDs on ebay that we decided we would never watch again, so I would say out of pocket (not including what we spent on DVD over the years) was less than $200, a lot more if you count the money we spent on DVD.

As for titles coming out, yes there are some I am looking forward to, and I know that there will be many more added soon, but for right now, I am just disapointed in what is coming out in the next, say, 2 months. Yeah some good ones, but too few and far between. I know I am just nit picking, but needed to dump it somewhere. Thanks for the replys.

Hey - great minds think alike. I am in total agreement with you. We need much more releases. The DOLTS that run the studios should know that tax rebate checks are going into the mail soon. What are they waiting for?

Everyone, and I mean everyone, is eagerly awaiting the first announcements from Universal and Paramount. Once they tell us what their plans are, I think we'll have plenty to buy. We'll continue to get announcements for Q3 and Q4 titles later.

I think the studios all blew their proverbial wads on holiday offerings. I'd expect that much is going on behind the scenes and that announcements will really pick up towards the fall. It is definitely frustrating. I'm getting more and more frustrated with SD these days. For me, what's out now is an extremely limited selection. When you think of the thousands of films out there - foreign, classic etc, what's out now is a tiny pittance.

What truly irks me now though is why aren't all of the Paramount HD-DVD releases out on BD by now (or soon)? Casablanca etc. Come on already?!

Well, if this is a slow time for movie releases, why don't the studios use the slow time to release more good catalog titles on Blu? Just a thought.

There waiting for a mass market. Having a new re release with 20 million blu ray players attracts tons more sales then just 5 million. Studios know that people buy stuff on every new format. Star wars on VHS DVD and soon Bluray it keeps on going. Just wait longer.
