I used to work at Best Buy and we had too many Westinghouse models crap out on us too frequently. However, they could have improved since. Either way, a free 1080p screen is a free 1080p screen.

My friend's parents just bought 2 of these recently, but the 32 inch model. They have a Pioneer in thier main family room, but they put one of these in the living room and the other in the basement. From what I've seen... they look pretty darn good for the price. They by no means look anywhere near as good as the Pioneer, but still, IMHO Westinghouse is a fantastic TV for the price... especially for someone who isn't a stickler or needs the absolute best.

And like the above post said... Free is always good!

i had a 37" westinghouse that went out on me. the way that these are built is that they buy the parts from the cheapest supplier. when bb came out to servie my tv they immediately told me i would get store credit to get a new tv because the parts they use to build these are hard to come by. When they opened my set up it had lg components in it and they can only be replaced by the same components and of course lg had stopped selling parts to westinghouse....not that i am complaining i got a 40" samsung out of the deal! when the westinghouse worked it was a pretty good set

Yeah, free is free, especially a 42" 1080p. Wouldn't mind having a free one of those lying around the house.

They were buying refurb/factory second parts from the factory that makes LG, or so goes the scuttlebutt. That's one of the many ways they make the sets cheaper. Westinghouse doesn't sell spare parts or have any repair network because they never know week to week/month to month what parts are actually going to be in the sets.

Free? Take it and enjoy it. Just don't expect it to last

Nah. I recently picked up a L2410NM to use as a TV for the bedroom (it really is a TV monitor with a 1900x1200 panel, since it takes HDMI/YPrPb/S-Video etc.) for $350. It wouldn't turn on after a few days.
