Default Westinghouse 42" LCD 1080p

Best Buy has Westinghouse 42" LCD 1080p on sale for 1099.99. Is this a good price for the TV? Anyone that have this TV care to comment on the resolutions and the pictures output of this TV.

It's horrific in my opinion. Also, my neighbor bought the 37" and only lasted maybe 2 weeks. Haven't heard anything good about them. If you're on a budget then I'd suggest Vizio. A 47" 1080P LCD can be had for about $1400.

I have the 27" for a bedroom tv, and do have my PS3 hooked up to that. It is a great tv, and I have had numerous compliments on it. I do have a 51" Samsung 1080P DLP in the living room, and I still think that the westinghouse is an adequite television. I have yet to see how good their 1080P sets are, but as far as the quality of my tv, I would say it should be pretty good.

if you're planing on using as your MAIN tv, i wouldnt suggest it. Westinghouse is a low end tv brand (similar to CC's Element and the Olevia tv's) i wouldnt suggest any of those for anything but the bedroom. theres a reason why the price is so low on that... contrast ratio must be crap. i also recommend a vizio. i recently got a 20" for my gf's room and it looks amazing for a small set. same goes with their 32 and 37 inch sets. 42 i've seen (not in 1080p) this set play some high def footage and it looks just as good as any other LG or Toshiba. i say go for the vizio.

I have that exact model. Picture is beautiful, 1080p output, low refresh rate, contrast ratio is NOT as good as (most*) your higher end, more exspenive Tv's, but my Blu-ray's still look absolutely stunning. If you want a large screen HDTV that won't break your bank, i highly recommend it. I have heard rumor of people having problems, but i have never seen any myself. I am more than happy with my purchase.

* the reason i say most is, i noticed in my pre-buy research that there are quite a few "name brand" higher end HDTV's that have the same contrast ratio as my westinghouse.

at that price if you do the research your right you just have to get the best contrast and connections for the money, after all its a budget tv,so you have to be happy with what you get for the money and check the reviews.

Post i like it

i have the same exact model in my bedroom in the basement, 42inch lcd 1080p with an HD satellite receiver and ps3 both hooked up thru HDMI...i've had relatives and friends check it out and said they liked it...one of my friends roomates works at a place where all their computer monitors and tvs are westinghouse..like others mentioned, for the price, its not a bad deal, i actually got it from best buy when it was on sale for $999.99 and bought the 3 yr warranty cuz its worth it if it does go bad. blu-ray looks great on this set IMO and i know theres lots of better tvs out there but its still a good catch

I haven't seen the 42" 1080p set, but I own the 32" 720p, and I have two friends that have the 27" 720p, and they are great sets. They may not be top of the line, but they're definitely not bottom of the barrel, you'll be hard pressed to find something better at a similar price.

I have the LVM-42W2. I'm not sure if that's the model you're looking at or if it's the one with the tuner card. My friend recently purchased the newer one with tuner and both have excellent pictures. Everyone who has seen my television has been nothing but impressed with it. HD cable looks wonderful as well as the PS3. Both are hooked up through HDMI through a SONY receiver.
