Refurbs usually have the same warranty as new, however, since i'm buying on-line their is no mfg warranty - thats true of all Pioneer Elite, even if it was not a refurb. I can get a Square Trade warranty on it, I did some research and they seem to be the best warranty outfit, very hightly rated, and they are offering me 30% off their usual price. I usually don't do these extended warranty deals, but this seems like an appropriate time for one, esp. considering the price. They also offered me 30% off any other warranty for anything i already own no matter where i bought it. Seems the very few people that gave Square Trade a bad review were people who wanted the warranty honored outside of the warranty period (duh) - warranty does not cover the first 60 days as it clearly states.

I bought the VSX82TXS last year...really wished I waited one more year before going to high-end receiver (had Sony unit before that). Nevertheless I extremely happy with the sound...just wished I had some of the newer features found in the new model.

I'm sure you'll be very happy with your purchase and the price at $1000 is a great deal!

Happy listening!!!!

So, here is where I stand:
I'm looking at the 91, 92, and 94TXH. I can get them for $575, $700, & $875 respectively (before tax). I only have 2 things connected to my current Denon AV1707: My PS3 and my PC. Both using optical. I'm eyeing a new receiver because...well, I want HDMI 1.3 so I can freaking use 7.1 and truly appreciate my SACD.
I'm not THAT much of an audiophile. I don't think I really need more than 110w per channel unless there is an advantage at casual volumes I'm not aware of. I don't need 1500 composite/s-video connections, as I don't see myself ever using them for...anything. I might get some extension component cables for my PSP so I don't have to sit 5' from my 60" TV down the line, but that's about it.
Both my PC and PS3 are connected to my TV via HDMI, using both of the HDMI orts I have. I doubt I'll ever need a 3rd port, but it'd be nice to have as a precaution.
All said, which receiver makes the most sense for me? I'm thinking the 92. Could I get away with the 91 and sacrifice an HDMI port, Neural THX (whatever that is), 20w per channel, and a 3d space frame design (wooo~)? I'm open for advice.

i purchsed my 94 back in Jan and thrilled to have it. I can say that i thought i wouldn't need extra space but with 2 game systems and a third on the way it helps having the extra inputs. the Media portian is wired to my computer and is great because i don't have to have my ipod connected to the reciever directly i just run it from the reciever. I fyou want soem room to expand and would like the ability to connect directly to your computer then i would go with the 94 but if you dont then stick with one of the other two models.

Seems that way. Now, do I jump on this now and be broke or wait until I can properly afford it and risk not being able to get this price...

Where are those prices from? If it's from an authorized dealer I would've ordered them already if I were you. I paid over $1k for my 94.

I bought the 94 this weekend. I just got it all hooked up yesterday but I'm loving it so far. For that price, I'd pull the trigger....I paid over $1600 for it.

Gotta love Canadian prices

In the future, or for products I am not in the market for let me know. I don't like to overstretch my contacts but I have been known to 'help' those in need now and again

Any Pioneer 94 owners experiencing any of the DTS-MA "pop" issues?

Default I know I am jumping in but...

...I need help

Can someone give me the answers to the following:

1.Does an HDMI hookup go as follows: From PS3 to reciever to TV and does this supply video and sound?

2.What type of reciever do I need to get PCM 5.1, True HD and DTS-MA?

3.Does HDMI get DD 5.1 or do I need to have a fiber optic as well?

4.Does HDMI improve the sound on any track? (not only PCM or True HD etc)

Also, I was watching Underworld Evolution (BD) using a 2.0 PCM track (all I have right now) and that seems to blow away the 5.1 DD track.

My current Sony reciever does not have HDMI.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Default Another question

Also...

Can I hook my PS3 into one "HDMI in" and my Directv into the other "HDMI in" (on the reciever) and use the "HDMI out" to the TV. Will it read whichever component I am using at the time?

Thanks again.

Yeah. I guess. If you mean that if you are using the PS3 will it output VIA HDMI the PS3 to the TV, or if You are using Directv will it out put the Directtv to the TV.

If you mean if you have the receiver off will it output a signal the answer is no.

Folks,

I have a Pioneer Elite 94TXH. Currently it's taking HDMI input from my hd cable box (a PVR box from cogeco). The HDMI output goes to my Sony Bravia XBR5.

So setup is

HDMI out from hd cable box -> HMDI in receiver -> HDMI out of receiver -> HDMI IN on TV.

What's somewhat annoying, is that when I switch from a HD to a non-HD channel (or vice versa), it looks like the HDMI is resyncing. Takes about a solid 3 seconds for it to change channels and display. Before I had the receiver, I plugged the cogeco cable box directly into the TV via component cables, and switching between HD/non-HD was never an issue.

Wonder if their is a setting to fix this? Or if this is simply a drawback of using HDMI.

I don't have this problem with my Directv HD-DVR.
