Default Playing audio CDs on PS3

Everything works fine on my new PS3 except one function -- playing audio CDs! The unit recognized the first audio CD I inserted, downloaded the title and artist information, and played it fine. But the unit now won't recognize any other audio CD in my collection. It will only recognize that initial audio CD. It does recognize all of my DVDs and games, though. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm reluctant to take back the machine because everything else works fine. I just updated with the new Profile 2.0 so could there be a glitch in this new update?

Any help would be appreciated.

Try a CD that's not in your collection. Specifically, borrow one from a friend or neighbor, or burn a CD-R. Sometimes the OPU needs a reset for each different optical media format. It does so by reading "similar" discs.

I've tried about 25 audio CDs so far, some purchased and some I burned myself. None of them will play on my PS3 except the very first audio CD I played. That one works fine. I've tried turning the unit off (after putting it in standby) and back on but it will only recognize that initial audio CD. Is there a way to delete the audio CD title and artist info and somehow re-set the PS3?

It's not the info of that CD that's causing the PS3 to get stuck. Most likely, it's the OPU that's got stuck. So if you want to perform a reformat of the HDD, that's fine and hopefully it'll play all of your CDs. Otherwise, I'd call Sony.

Finally fixed it. I did a Quick Reformat. Now it reads all my audio CDs. Lost all my game data though.

You can back up game data, I know its too late but yeah you can just back up your saved game data by going to to the game area and copying the files over to a flash drive...

Im sorry no one mentioned this too you
