When I'm playing Blu-Ray movies in uncompressed lossless format, the subwoofer is being used.
When I'm playing a PS3 game like, say, Uncharted and have the audio option set to Linear PCM, then the subwoofer is being used. However, when I stick in an Audio CD on my PS3, only the 5 channels are being used (fronts, center, rears) but NOT the subwoofer. Is there any reason for this, or do I have to mess around with the settings on my receiver to get the subwoofer working? |

I've messed around with petty much all of the surround sound presets on my receiver (theatre, extended surround, etc) and none give me the subwoofer bass

Since cd's have only two channels you must have your receiver set for some kind of surround mode so i guess it must be how your receiver is set, sorry i have never used my PS3 for a cd.

yeah, that's true, I just wish I knew how to access the extra .1
![]() If anyone has a pioneer receiver, I'd very much appreciate the help. I'm not sure if it's a receiver issue or a PS3 issue...probably not a PS3 issue. |

Yeah I switched it to Stereo mode with no luck, unfortunately. It's weird because when I was calibrating my unit, the sub was properly working and recognized...it's working on everything BUT Audio CDs at this point on my PS3. |

it should be when its set on stereo mode... there should be a setting to turn the sub on... i know how to do it on the onkyo but that does not help you at all lol... hmm... check your owners manual for something like "speaker configuration" or "subwoofer settings" or the like

Figured it out.
It's some very minor detail that was hard to find in the instruction manual about not just setting the subwoofer to "ON", but instead setting it to "Plus". Thanks all. |

I do not know about your receiver. However, on my Denon receiver, you have to do the following to hear the subwoofer with stereo music.
- Go to the AUDIO SETUP - Chose 2 CH DIRECT/STEREO - Say YES to SUBWOOFER - You have two options after this Option 1: Set the Front speakers to SMALL and the subwoofer to LFE Option 2: Set the front speakers to LARGE and the subwoofer to LFE+MAIN - You can also set the crossover. The default is 40Hz on my receiver. In the Denon receiver menu, the audio options for stereo is set independent of the movie surround settings. I hope this helps. |
