Default PS Store Unveiled!

PLAYSTATION®Store to undergo April revamp

Customer feedback drives new design, interface and navigation
Updates on hold for two weeks; new-look Store launches mid-April

This April, PLAYSTATION®Store, the online content store on PLAYSTATION®Network, is getting a whole new look and feel – and it’s in response to feedback from the millions of PSN registrants in the PAL region.

The revamp comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PLAYSTATION Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation. The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface.

Content will be suspended for two weeks while the improvements are carried out but users can look forward to a special update in mid-April.

There will be no weekly content updates between now and the re-launch, although users can still download content from the back catalogue, such as Warhawk™ and Gran Turismo™ 5 Prologue.

The PLAYSTATION Store revamp will not affect PLAYSTATION Network accounts or the virtual wallet system.

Updated with larger ThreeSpeech images, yep they're official.

Hopefully they'll expand it out horizontally to make use of that extra space eventually.

Cool Boarders 2
Cool Boarders 3
Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot 2
Crash Bandicoot 3
Destruction Derby 2
Devil Dice
Everybody's Golf

Kurushi Final
Motor Toon Grand Prix
Motor Toon Grand Prix 2
Namco Museum vol.1
Namco Museum vol.2
Namco Museum vol.4

Ridge Racer Type 4
Rollcage
Spyro The Dragon 2
Spyro: Year of the Dragon

Took 'em long enough. The old interface was incredibly bad. Now they just need some content. Xbox live kicks the holy living crap outta them with that. Even just by having older stuff up. the PSN gets rid of demos and such after a certain period of time. They need to quit that.

I don't understand this "too much clicking" business. How else would one select things?

Didn't you know the left/right on the PS3 dpad didn't work properly? No wait.. that's the other systems controller.

I truly think a majority of people don't understand why they don't like the old store design and just regurgitate the reasons other people say.

Not sure, but i would expect it to happen shortly after, or around the same time.

Can't see SCE leaving the US out, normally they get things before us in the uk lol

Infact i was hoping it would look like this, I think the Singstar interface is pretty sweet. However i really hope it don't have the same issues as singstar and now GT5 have with getting online/updating!

click on trailer..click download..click destination..click perform in background..click to get back to main page. and thats the least amount of clicking..good luck finding something a fews weeks old

but i mentioned nothing about the 360, so i'm not sure why shinra is throwing that in there and trying to act like it isnt a big deal. they mention in the article its something psn users have been asking for, so obviously i'm not the only one who finds the store setup less than stellar

I agree there is a lot of clicking but you did not answer my question. My question was, how else would one get to things. If you don't click what would you do? Aren't all the steps you mentioned above necessary? Which one would you take out?

My recommendation/complaint is "going backwards."

1) I don't like going from page 1 to 2 to 3 to etc... Then if I want to get to somewhere else and then go back to where I was, "you're right, there is excessive clicking involved." I don't like that.
2) If it was designed with a back button or a previously selected pulldown bar, that would help navigation immensely.
3) xtop, I agree with you on the older games especially. It is not inviting trying to look for older games. I just tend not to do it.
4) any other suggestions?
