I agree! I wish they would put the Shaw Bros. old school classic Kung Fu movies on Blu ray!

That would be the Killing Machine / Shogun's Ninja double-feature put out by BCI/Eclipse on the same day that they released the Sister Street Fighter I/II double feature (January 8, 2008).

I haven't seen Killing Machine in a long time, but I remember it being a pretty solid 70's kung-fu movie albeit not on par with the classic Sonny Chiba "The Street Fighter". I don't think I've ever seen Shogun's Ninja. Since they seem to have licenses to these films, hopefully they will also crank out a Street Fighter I/II double feature.

Amazon.co.uk sells quite a few DVDs by Hong Kong Legends/Contender. HKL took some great Kung Fu movies and restored them (video and audio) mostly including the original mono mix and English subtitles.

Check out HKL/Contender. Some of my favorites by them:

- Shaolin Wooden Men
- Snake in the Eagles Shadow
- Drunken Master

- Ong-Bak

- Bruce Lee Anniversary set
...

With greater memory capibilities, I see no reason why they couldn't take two or three or more of those old Kung Fu clasics and put them on one disc. They could still make them look and sound much better.

Yeah really. The Sony Chiba (street fighter) stuff is Japanese, and surprisingly obscure. What's stopping them (U.S.) from releasing popular Chinese classics?
I ask because it's not hard to obtain a film print, and not much harder to remaster it and compress it (It's hard to do a good job, but who's picky with Kung-Fu?). Some of us on this board could do it if we tried. But what am I missing, is blu-ray complicated as far as licensing or something?

Curse of the Golden Flower is on Blu-Ray, though the amount of Kung-Fu in it is surprisingly light.

Invisible Target was a high profile Chinese action flick last year that is available to import. I'm not sure how much martial arts is used (I haven't gotten around to watching my DVD yet).
