Are there any more specifics that you may be able to give? Dubbed in widescreen doesn't make sense to me, but dubbing for a film is usually an audio recording of another language that is played in place of the movie's original language track for viewers who do not prefer reading subtitles.

Am I helping with the question? I feel that I am explaining very basic information. *Shrug*

A dubbed movie is where it was filmed in one language and when presented in a country that does not speak that language, it is "dubbed" over in the language that that particular country does speak.

Widescreen has nothiing to do with it. Unless the actor has a big mouth.

the only thing i could think of what it could mean is reformatted to widescreen presentation? because with the word dubbing i think of something like anime for an example. probably just bad wording for it

Apparently wherever he preordered AVP2 it says "dubbed widescreen".

Oh well, don't worry about it. It has been very well reviewed in the PQ/AQ department.

BestBuy.com lists everything as "widescreen dubbed" for whatever reason, even stuff that features nothing but the original language

I don't understand the original question, but just to add to dubbing wrt audio. Obviously other languages are dubbed. But dubbing is the replacement of the "filmed" audio with soundstage audio. So when the actor pretends he is singing and there is someone else that really sung it, it is dubbed (even if both are the same language), if the audio filmed is unusable so the audio is re-recorded then it is also dubbed. Most films tend to have a bit of dubbing even in the original language, so it is not something restricted to other languages. It is just that dubbing in the none original language is more obvious (plus there is the choice, watch the original language +subs or the dubbed version)

I originally had the same questions about this as I see its advertised a lot more... but it really all sounds redundant... almost all dvd and blu-rays have additional languages (most US made films), all have additional subtitles (and you dont "dub" subtitles)... why now after 10 years start adding dubbed? Makes no sense. I could understand if this was used on foriegn films.

never mind, figured it out... best buy IS just being redundant...

'dubbed' means someone is voicing over the original voice with a different voice, usually in a different language, but not always.

'subtitle' means the text of the dialogue being spoken will pop-up on the screen.

'ac3' means the sound you hear will be in 6 channels (5.1).

I knew all this already just didn't understand how/why Best Buy was writing it this way... oh well, for people like my dad I guess!

It means that it is dubbed and subtitled in other languages, in addition to the original language. I think.

AC-3 ~ DD it does not need to be 5.1 (but 5.1 is the max) and it could be 5.1 but not AC3 (i.e. LPCM or from DTS)
