I never said it was a M$ site. Sorry if you read something into my response... BTW, have you ever wanted to be a mod for AVS? ~just kidding~

I think Julia (from 1984) said it best, "If you abide by all of the small rules, they never notice when you break the big rules".

It is like tax evasion, if you keep to all the laws in life and don't do anything dodgy like drugs etc..., you really can get away with it as they will never have any reason to look at your personal files and finances. They just accept what you tell them as you are an upstanding citizen. AVS is just the same, there is no mileage in making anti-MS comments, the way to do it is to play the game and beat them. I mean look at my example, I only realised this recently, but when I started I fell foul of the mods on several occasions, but now by sticking to their rules I deal damage to even the most hard-core of HD DVD zealots and there isn't a thing the mods can do about it.

Also if you do make an anti-MS comment dress it up and mention at the end of the post that you have risked the wrath of the mods for insulting MS. Once you so this, you are invulnerable.

After e-mailing a complaint it appears my posting privileges have been restored. I was told they're casting a "wide net" for users that promote one format while bashing another. I would think that would eliminate most of the forum's members (including a few well-known insiders).

I'll try to be more diplomatic in my presentation of the facts in the future.

In retrospect, are there any HDDVD fanboys that are trolling worse than you and have not been banned? And if you can, can you show me an example because I don't like to go to AVS because of the really off-the-wall color scheme is retarded.

As for MAX, Julia ends up siding with big-brother, doesn't she? I haven't read the whole book yet.

Like I've said before, enough memory is just that, enough, but you can never have too much.

True that. To me (and I hope other BD supporters can avail of this), the fudding by hd-dvd insiders & AVS' apparent "protection" of hd-dvd are very good signs. It unwittingly shows desperation and a weak stance.

OTOH, a-man's reasoned response to the "VC1 mugging" issue shows that MS is/will be actually in a good position in VC1 IP pool. If he had shown normal MS-BS and/or irrationality (born of desperation) in his responses to that issue, it would have been a clear sign of it being true.

To sum up, Imo, as long as a-man and the hd-dvd insiders act this irrationally, panic-stricken and fud-happy, its good news for us re whats going on behind the scenes. Its when a-man and clones get quietly confident that we should worry for BD's health.

I stopped reading those silly threads over at AVS. I just look through the Rant thread for the goodies, but otherwise it's the same garbage again and again

I have thousands of posts at AVSForums, I think over 5,000. I love the forum and understand the rules. I won't post comments like the one shown here which is only an attempt to start trouble and contains nothing helpful. I will start paying more attention and post responses to the HD DVD FUD, if I miss something, bring it to my attention. The High Def Forum has the most HD DVD FUD per capita and I haven't been watching at AVSForums lately. The trouble we are faced with is simple, as long as Universal is HD DVD exclusively, HD DVD will be around and both formats will do poorly in terms of market and profits in my opinion. The stupid announcement of the Samsung dual format player isn't helping either. Stick to facts and personal opinions, not inflammatory remarks at that or any forum. Although I wouldn't have known the post shown here would result in being banned, I do know it is against my understanding of the intent for any of these forums.

A similar comment about Sony/Blu-ray at that forum hopefully isn't permitted either.

Chris

Well, I am testing your theory (which I do not believe). I voted for Blu-ray, and posted a message on my reasoning why..... all honest opinions.... (no baiting) [and not my first message -- number 6]. I am guessing I will still be there in the morning

What's beyond ROFLMAO? If our friends running AVS actually mean that, I'll personally blow up rdjam's HD DVD player on youtube.

Inflammatory is calling someone a fanboy actively taking part in a disinformation campaign.

I only pointed out that VC-1 isn't lossless at HD-DVD bitrates and added that only one format has the capacity to handle LOTR. Ok, the viral marketing comment maybe somewhat inflammatory but that's clearly what's going on over there. Have you seen the insider forum lately? It's X-Box central.

I even paid homage to Microsoft with a quote from Bill Gates. Everything I posted was true and unassailable.

I only go there to visit the only thread:
-Flat Panel General and new FP tech (most importantly the OLED TV threads)

and sometimes the LCD and Plasma threads are a visit to me.

Other than that, I don't view the other threads there (esp. the Hi-def disc thread areas)

The last sentence is the inflammatory remark, rather than that statement, point out what is wrong with Microsoft's marketing of VC-1. With a stupid format war like this, there are going to be emotional arguments in favor of one format or the other. I can promise you, the overwhelming majority of the arguments in favor of HD DVD are by consumers, not Microsoft insiders. I can step back and look at the issues without emotion and the obvious reasons for only one format and for the one format to be Blu-ray are clear to me. I can't understand why everybody can't just see, having only one format is best, Blu-ray has the technical advantage, greater studio support, greater CE manufacturer support, and is currently the leader in software sales and equipment sold to play the discs. I look at the facts and see clearly, it is time to end this nonsense, too many consumers are buying neither until there is only one, surely over 50 percent will avoid both until there is a clear winner. With one format, the confusion goes away and getting the best possible HD source for the new HDTV becomes of interest to a much large market.

Unfortunately, this stupid war is going to continue.

I share your sentiments. For a lot of the strong HD DVD proponents, the battle has already become an emotional one - is there still any non-emotional reason for supporting HD DVD? I'm afraid Mr. Kornblau is just one of them.
