Must a hdtv a have hdmi in order to support bluray??

It must have HDMI or DVI with HDCP compatibility to support the highest possible resolutions that Blu-Ray/HD-DVD can put out. So, yes, the display listed accepts HD over the DVI input.

It also lists 1080p as an acceptable input, but not really specific enough on the site. If it is 1080p over the digital portion of the DVI connection then it should work at 1080p with the Pioneer Elite.

Still... Yes, it works.
