Default Help with Comcast HD

OK so I got a new TV and for some reason when watching Comcast HD, then switch to an SD channel then back to the HD channel, the HD channel refuses to come in. The whole screen is filled with scribbly lines. But if I switch to my 360 then back to the HD, the channels in HD will come in now. If anyone understands what exactly I am talking about can you help me find out why it does this. Thanks.

Could be your modem, I would call Comcast and have them send someone over.

I just have basic cable and am able to pick up all the HD channels at no extra cost, not that I dont pay enough already but those extra channels are a plus.

Need some more info.
Kind of cable box,(Motorola or Scientific Atlanta) and current hookup, component, HDMI, etc.
Any other components in the chain? (does cable box go to an AVR first, then TV?)

This could be anything from HDMI handshake issues, to a simple cable box config problem.

Yeah, I can help you.

Go to a Comcast forum. This is a Blu-Ray forum and you're being a jerk to people for not answering your questions fast enough about stuff that has nothing to do with Blu-Ray.

the cable box is motorola and is hooked up with component atm. the box is plugged into the TV directly and when it is hooked up with HDMI it works just fine. I might have to have it that way but I only have 2 HDMI on the TV and they are taken already.

I think it's just comcast. When I had comcast, I would get the same thing you're describing when switching between SD and HD. I don't think it's the Moto box either. I have the same box with FIOS and I get nothing like that now. Comcast's feed is just horrible.

Is FIOS available in your area? If so, you should really check it out.

Your comparing a optical fed signal vs. a coax, apples to oranges. Whats comical is how comcast still offers more hd channels with less bandwidth to work with so ofcourse signal loss will be there, but i will take that and not get shafted on hd channels like sci-fi. You would think with them boasting about how great fios is they would at least match what cable and dish providers offer. I think alot of it has to do with verizon being in charge, they put new meaning to the word slow when it comes to anything they do.

And yes to the original poster i get some lag on my cable box, sometimes the picture will go black on my screen but i will still have audio when switching from sd to hd, or it will lag a few seconds when changing a channel, which is the most annoying.
