Great news.. How would have thought lower prices moved more units

Good start, now please keep them low and give me "High Tension" next

High Tension?

You've got to be kidding, when I said that "there has to be at least one person on the planet that liked that French POS" I was only kidding.

Tell me though, if the ending was supposed to be the ending... how does anyone {in their right mind} explain the car chase scene?

That movie is just plain bad and doesn't deserve a transfer to high def.

Would you rather have Lionsgate come out with See No Evil & Witless Protection instead?

Simple, the car chase
[Show spoiler](as with almost everything you see in the film) never really happened. The whole movie is a flashback as the main character interpreted them (the first scene in the film shows her sitting in front of a video camera, and she asks if its recording). So, no the car chase never happened, she didn't sneak into the back of the killer's truck after he slaughtered her friend's family, she doesn't beat the killer to death w/ a barbed wire wrapped post, etc., etc......because she's had a psychotic break and was the killer all along.

Believe it or not, some films actually require you to *gasp* pay attention....

Actually, no.

The car chase {along with a few other elements}

[Show spoiler]happened just as assuredly as anything else in that movie {reference the killing of the night clerk at the gas stop} not only that if {in fact} the good part of the personality {the main character} had defeated the killer that character would logically have become the dominant part of the personae and the killer aspect would fade away.

Then again, I'm applying logic to a story and script that didn't have any at the beginning.

If such is the case, why does the friend go from point a} at her own house watching her parents get killed to point b} in the middle of nowhere all beat up and the like?

The film follows a narrative that is one case but the film ends off with a twist ending because twist endings are all the rage these days that makes no sense at all to anyone who was 'paying attention'

For further example, how could the killer be getting head at the beginning of the movie when the main character is coming down to visit her friends parents?

Even the greatest fiction in the world {yes even science fiction} needs to follow it's own rules.

That movie at no point follows it's own rules.

It is a twist ending that makes no sense at all to the narrative and was only thrown in to be a twist ending, not something that has anything to do with the rest of the story.

You'd understand that if you had any knowledge of film theory. Or... were paying attention.

I'd rather not have Lionsgate come out with shit movies and put the better stuff they have on Blu-Ray first and dump the crap {ala High Tension} to the bottom of the DVD heap where it belongs.

Get a trained monkey to do the transfer for High Tension, even feces slung at the screen would make more sense than the entire movie.

Again in context to the opening scene it makes perfect sens.
For further example, how could the killer be getting head at the beginning of the movie when the main character is coming down to visit her friends parents?
The killer wasn't - her imagination

Even the greatest fiction in the world {yes even science fiction} needs to follow it's own rules.

[Show spoiler]
Because THIS IS WHAT THE MAIN CHARACTER BELIEVES HAPPENED!!!!! The movie is her perspective on what happened. Yes, they do let the audience in on the fact that Marie and the killer are one in the same towards the end, but everything up to that point was her recollection of the events that (didn't) happen, all of which was established at the very beginning of the film. That's why it makes perfect sense within the narrative.
I personally could give a crap whether you like the movie or not, I merely tried to answer your question, which I did.

It's really intense. After watching the movie, it felt like I just got hit in the stomach with a 2X4.

I liked it and would buy it on blu-ray.

I haven't seen this in awhile . . . I remember liking it until the ending, which I thought was disappointing. I have no desire to watch it again. I remember thinking it was a pretty cool film, visually, though.

I first saw this film at the Toronto Film Festival.

Aja, the director, confirmed that
[Show spoiler] the getting head scene never happened. Marie was enraged at that moment because her friend Alexia was screwing with a guy she didn't approve of. She envisioned getting head from a severed head...we witnessed it as the killer getting head in his truck in a field.

By the same logic, the chase scene never happened either. It was a figment of Marie's imagination.

Big thumbs down for me, I usually really like Cécile de France, but here she is mediocre, much like the entire movie...
