Default High-Def Digest Spreading Blu-ray FUD - Fixed!

In an article currently posted on their site about the recent Panasonic version 2.0 firmware update ( http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...HD_Support/582), High-Def Digest printed this interesting tidbit of misinformation:

Quote:
...Of all present Blu-ray players on the market, only select models -- including Sony's PlayStation 3 -- are able to extract the 1.5mbps DTS "core" of DTS-MA tracks....
Now, we all know this is false. ALL Blu-ray players - not just 'select models' - are capable of extracting the 1.5Mbps core dts track from any DTS-HD or DTS-HD MA program as we who have had our Panasonic, Samsung, Phillips, and Pioneer stand-alones have been doing all along. WTF?

bah. That's incredibly misappropriate! Now having a one year anniversary and posting misinformation like that which lots of unwitting persons will see and believe. The site must do a retraction and correct this with a note saying so.

^^ Agreed.

Now, would anyone care to place a wager on the over/under of that any of that actually happening?

"High Def Digest FUD-ing against BD?"

Is that supposed to be some earth shattering surprise or something?

Total lie. HDD is the last source I go to, for any kind of Blu-ray info. They stink, and I don't like 'em!

I think we need to work harder on prying you out of that shy phase you're in so you can really tell us more clearly how you feel about things.

I was wondering about that DTS info when I read it. If all BDPs can do this then someone needs to email him. If it's false I'm sure they'll fix it.

I'm a member over there. Mostly I signed up so that if there's ever a specific day where HD flames out and dies I can go postal on the HD DVDers.

So *ALL* current BDPs can extract the 1.5 core from a DTS-MA track? I'll post that if that's true.

Did they even look at the audio specs of Fox titles?

e.g. Eragon

English DTS HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround
French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround

So..., only select Blu-ray players can play English audio from Fox releases?

What I find incredible is they "HDDVDigest.com" are so anxious for positive news regarding HDDVD that any small blip on the radar in sales spikes etc for HDDVD they post and make a big deal of: "HDDVD STAGING A COMEBACK"

Gimme a F'n Break!

Wonder if they will now post that HDDVD's lead for what 2 days? is already overtaken in all but one category (top 100) ....and this is happening BEFORE the weekend buy-a-thon planned by Blu-ray'ers for saturday!

I've used the Contact us link to send them questions or corrections in the past, they are very quick to respond and very polite. Cut them some slack and email the correction in a respectable fashion.

They've fixed it.

No mention of the correction, but at least it's fixed.
