It wasn't incredible, the 3D in transformers:dark of the moon was incredible looking because they shot it with 3D cameras.

Some of it was natively shot. Between 47 - 52% of it was post-converted. You might not have noticed because, despite the stigma still being stuck in 2010, post-conversion work can look brilliant now, the industry's come a long way since rush jobs like Clash of the Titans. Stuff like Star Trek, Avengers and Titanic were up there with the best 3D experiences for me.

I thought the 3D in Trek was better than in Avatar which was actually shot in 3D.

Sometimes I wish the anti 3d brigade would just shut up and go away. The 2d version is still an option for them to see. Why can't they just leave those that do enjoy 3d films in peace.

For information the 3D effect in Star trek into darkness were really well done. The special effects were rendered in 3D and the film was shot in 2D but with 3D in mind from the outset. JJ Abrams wanted to shoot in 2D and convert because it allowed him to shoot in the style he wanted without the bulky native 3D cameras.

Anti 3D brigade, if you don't have anything constructive to say then don't say anything at all.

The site is technically back, and has been for a while.
You just can't order anything through it. It's more like a newsletter now, as to what is available in-store.

As for the whole 3D thing, I saw "...Into Darkness" in both 3D and 2D, and I prefered the 2D viewing.

If this steelbook has a 3D disc in it, then so be it, as long as there is a 2D option available too, then it's fine.

Some people simply don't like 3D. I'm one of them. And I've done the whole arguing thing about it before, and to be honest, I don't feel like doing it again.

So, whatever. If it's there, then it's no big deal.

This is my point. The 2D option is there so why do people get upset that others may want it in 3D? The anti 3D fans get to enjoy the film in 2D while the 3D fans get to enjoy the film in 3D. Everyone should be happy.

Billz, can I ask why you saw the 3D version if you're so set against the format?

To give it an equal chance.
If I had said that I hated the 3D without seeing it first, then that would make me a hypocrite.

I've been doing it since Avatar (which in all fairness, was bloody brilliant in 3D). If there's a 2D and a 3D option available, and if I like the movie enough, I'll see it in both formats, to give it an equal chance to "wow" me in either format.

But I'll never see a chosen film at the cinema in either format more than once. Once in 3D. Once in 2D.
I'd say that's fair.

With home releases being so close to theatrical, I don't really see the point in seeing films multiple times in the cinema let alone in 2D and 3D. Especially with the over inflated cinema prices. I might if I had a Cineworld unlimited pass though.

I just watch the film in 3D at the cinema and then wait for the 3D/2D blu ray.

The point is, that the blu-ray release will more than likely have both viewing options available.

Let's just deal with it, and use whichever format that we prefer when it is released.

That is fair, I agree I wasn't asking to be difficult, I was genuinely curious.

As for going to the cinema multiple times - I saw Star Trek 4 times, Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel twice each and I saw The Hobbit seven times at the cinema (in various formats). I think my record is Fellowship of the Ring which I've seen at the cinema about 20 times. Jurassic Park is 10 or 11 times.

For me you absolutely cannot beat the cinema going experience when it comes to watching films. Blu-rays and home cinema set-ups nowadays are fantastic but it'll always be second place.

I'm far from anti 3D. I do however think there's loads that goes against it. Tacked on versions clearly aimed at making money. The extra fees that cinemas charge to see these films is farcical when you end up seeing a film where the 3D was utter pony. I don't know what the pickup on 3D home versions is like in terms of sales but people through the doors to watch the 3D cimema versions drop off a lot after the early screenings. I saw Superman in 3D opening weekend and there was hardly anyone in there. The 2D screening was packed though, the queue was massive.

The 3D in Star Trek was very good though, some of the best i've seen. I do howver think it's a money making fad in the long run and studios take advantage of the punter but kicking out under par versions for extra cash.

I totally agree with this.
Nothing beats going to the cinema to watch a film that you've been waiting to see.

Wow. We've actually agreed on something for once. Has Hell frozen over, lol?

Didn't we once agree that Back to the Future II was cool? Like, back in 2011 or something?

So see you in 2015 to agree on the next thing!
