I've been doing it since Avatar (which in all fairness, was bloody brilliant in 3D). If there's a 2D and a 3D option available, and if I like the movie enough, I'll see it in both formats, to give it an equal chance to "wow" me in either format.

But I'll never see a chosen film at the cinema in either format more than once. Once in 3D. Once in 2D.
I'd say that's fair.
That is fair, I agree I wasn't asking to be difficult, I was genuinely curious.

As for going to the cinema multiple times - I saw Star Trek 4 times, Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel twice each and I saw The Hobbit seven times at the cinema (in various formats). I think my record is Fellowship of the Ring which I've seen at the cinema about 20 times. Jurassic Park is 10 or 11 times.

For me you absolutely cannot beat the cinema going experience when it comes to watching films. Blu-rays and home cinema set-ups nowadays are fantastic but it'll always be second place.
