Why are people choosing the regular edition over the gift set? Both look incredible but one would assume everybody would want the "'more expensive, cooler" one.

I myself will be getting the gift set. I hope it's not limited edition and they have it in stores. I don't like doing months in advance pre-orders.

Price has nothing to do with it. It's about quality, and to me, the blood slide one is ten fold better than the $400 one. Not worth the extra price, and if they were same, I'd still go for blood slide set.

To me, too bad the show's complete series is only Seasons 1-4, though.

I prefer the slides over the head bust, it's all a matter of preference. For once, I like the cheaper option more!

I would take the slides over the bust even if the slide set was more expensive.

Yeah I too already own all the seasons on bluray. Damn, I really like this set though. Might have to double dip.

  • The slides/box are a cooler hook to the show.
  • I love the idea of inventive packaging (Band of Brothers tin, for instance) until it's time to try to actually get at one of the discs. Then, not so much.
  • The slides/box will fit more easily into more places. The head is pretty cool (though it does have an i, Robot look to it I'm not totally crazy about) but there are only so many places I could put it and if I don't like it in any of those places...
  • The slides/box are a cooler hook to the show. That one bears repeating.

Looks like the majority on here agree that the blood slide set looks cooler than the more expensive head set and I think so to.

But that price!!! I'm sure it will go down.

Got so much stuff on pre order. For 1 I got ps4 and the walking dead season 3 fish tank zombie heads on pre order.

Btw The Walking Dead one was $116 when first available to pre order then it went down to $96. Not much but still something. So hopefully these Dexter sets will go down closer to release date.

Breaking Bad will most likely happen. I really want the rumors of it being remastered in 4K to be true. The only season that looks good on blu-ray is Season 3 (I don't own season 5 but I've heard it's about the same quality as 3). The rest are either uneven (a mixture of ugly and gorgeous moments) or just downright hidious (season one in particular. It's supposed to be grainy, not covered in violent noise!).

I'll only buy it if they give us the versions released in the UK (extras on the discs including the Lithgow commentary on the season 4 finale). If they just include the existing US discs, I'll get the inevitable UK complete set.

How so exactly? 300$ for 8 seasons. That's 37.50 per season and we KNOW the price will go down. It's already a great deal.

a starting price for this should be around 150-200$ and from that coming down in the way

37,5 per season in complete set is too much, even if it is a gift set....

I like both. I can't find the limited edition for pre-order.

Think ill stick with individuals for space reasons but for those who get either, I'm jealous.

Wow that blood slide set is amazing!! I own all 7 season though so I'll just be happy that I can buy Season 8 about 1 month after the show is finished.

I owned the first four seasons on blu ray and ended up selling them off like a week or two ago anticipating that something like this would happen. I'm stoked and very happy that they said there will be bonus material as well.

Does anybody know the difference between the two sets besides just one coming in a trophy case and the other being a mannequin head?

I hope it either comes in a hat, a bucket of Los Pollos Hermanos (with some plastic blue sky hidden inside) or even inside a Pink bear.

Because the Bloodslide Trophy box is what we relate to Dexter with.

I understand he has used the splatter dummy head a couple times but its not something he has treasured from the first episode until this last season.

Default Whish they'd leave out the toys

Perhaps I'm in the minority but, I'd rather just a quality card board box containing the individual seasons. Like the Battle Star Galactica Complete series had.

This and Lost seem to want to put these corny toy props in there I have no interest in. I'd just like something that fits on a normal shelf of Blu-Rays. Not be weird shaped and a pain to get at the discs.
