Default Cars 2

Ok, this may sound quite irrelevant for a Blu-ray forum, but how will Cars 2 (2012) stack up against the original Cars (2006)?

I know many of you didn't like the 1st one (relatively weak for a Pixar film), but I think it's a lot better compared to most non-Pixar CG films today (and also one of the best Blu-ray demo disc)... anyway, your thoughts guys...

I think this is a bit to early to think about. They are just getting started on it and it will take a long time to get the storyboards, character designs, scripts, etc. done long before even the actors or the animators come into play.
Relax. Pixar does very good work so I expect it will be cool.

I expect it to be good. I had pretty low expectations for Cars; I'm not a racing fan and the character designs looked awfully cutesy, so it was the first Pixar film which I did not see in the theatre. When I finally saw it at home I was very pleasantly surprised: the story was far better than I expected, the cast was excellent, the animation was groundbreaking...just goes to show I shouldn't doubt Pixar, I guess. Toy Story 2 surpassed the original, in my opinion, so I've got pretty high hopes for Cars 2: they don't seem to be in the business making sequels just to extend a franchise.

I have a feeling that Pixar is compelled to do Cars 2 to redeem the original Cars - which means, story-wise, it's going to be better... I guess they doesn't want us to talk about "Cars" negatively or as the weakest movie in the Pixar catalogue...
