Default Artie Lange quits the Stern show...

Did anyone listen to todays show? Artie went bananas on his assistant Teddy and charged him. He had to be restrained by multiple people to stop him from pummeling the guy.

Howard then asked Artie if he would be able to control himself in the future, and Artie said he couldn't be trusted and that he resigns. He said I love you to Howard, in a choked up voice and walked out of the show.

I hope that this is settled off the air and Artie is allowed to come back (If he wants to). The show wouldn't be the same without him.

Wow! I'm listening from a different source (other than the live broadcast), and I have not got to that point, yet. I had no idea, but I am certainly eager to hear how it all goes down.

I hope Artie gets his issues straightened out, ok. I hope he really doesn't end up leaving the show, either. He is a great contribution to the show.

I have not listened to stern since he went to sirius but i bet by monday of next week he is back from his vacation errr i mean altercation. Knowing how howard thinks this was done with the intentions to peak intrest in the show. No different from when this happens on insert reality show here to draw in viewers for the next few weeks to see how it's played out.

Lets face it artie has no future in the movie industry, i guess he could be a stand up again by why quit probably the easiest job in the world which im sure he gets payed rather well for. I bet anything he is back by monday.

This should be on Howard TV hopefully tomorrow.

Could be radio stunt, but it's possibly true.

If you heard it, you definately couldn't think it was a stunt. Artie was crying, Teddy was crying, they pulled the replays. I would be shocked if this is a stunt.

Also, since they pulled the replays I wonder if this will be on Howard TV. I hope it is, because it was amazing radio.

HOLY CRAP!!!...did that sound serious! Robin's reactions really make it come across the radio w/o actually seeing it.

My interpretation is that it is real- not a show stunt. Howard was up to his usual antics of setting up the stage for hijinks to ensue. Usually, the spontaneity pays off into a huge comedy skit, but this time it got out of control (and went a different direction than he expected). Now he is backtracking that he never intended for this to happen. Well of course, nobody wants something like this to happen, but I believe he is being dishonest to say he didn't set up the catalyst for "something" to happen, in hopes of great comedy.

Artie lost his temper, plain and simple, but I don't fault him for it. I imagine there is a great deal of frustration on this matter that has been building. So even though we witnessed a very scary side to Artie, he is still human. Artie is like a freight locomotive, and now a lot of people are scared silly that there is literally not enough manpower around to contain him, if he goes on a rampage. None of this appears to be about drugs or alcohol, btw. It could be a peripheral thing that has Artie on edge, but it is not the core of the matter. I don't think people should presume Artie's history of drugs/alcohol has any connection to this at this time, however.

They were saying that Artie charged toward Teddy (after a very heated bout of verbal argument), and it took 7 guys to hold him back (or more specifically, 7 guys were there, and supposedly that was not enough to contain Artie, rather just slow him down). I think Artie actually got a swing in and hit Teddy!

The topic title is a bit misleading, though. While it was discussed that he wants to quit, these were words spoken in the midst of heated anger. I think the issue still remains unresolved on a formal basis. He may quit, or he may come back when tempers have cooled.

Artie knew it was time to move on using "He takes my money" skit to go out with a bang.
good move on his part.

I can't get a connection, for some reason. It could be corporate firewall, but usually I get a clear message stating such is blocked.

Well I said that because Howard asked him if he could control himself in the future to protect his staff, Artie replied with "No, I can't be trusted. I resign." So, as of now in my eyes Artie is not coming back. I hope I am wrong though, Artie is my favorite.
