What timing, I was just about to order the digibook, which dropped to $12.99 on Amazon. I figured they'd e a re-release one day, but I was hoping for a new transfer of the film since the current one could certainly be improved. This edition as least has several more extras not found on the digibook.
This is yet another example of Warner releasing an anniversary edition of a film when it has none (the JFK UCE being another). I wonder what other real life event anniversaries they'll come up with next ![]() Last edited by MifuneFan; 08-01-2013 at 03:00 PM. |

Anyone know if these were in the first release? There's a 1 hr 12 minute "Behind the Story" doc on the current one, and I know it incorporates some separate featurettes, so I was just wondering if these were there too
Telling the Truth About Lies: The Making of All the President’s Men - 28 mins Woodward and Bernstein: Lighting the Fire - 18 mins Out of the Shadows: The Man Who Was Deep Throat - 16 mins EDIT: Never mind I noticed they're all listed on the back of the digibook. The review here simply labels it under the "Behind the Story" umbrella. So nothing new here aside from the Revisted doc (which is 2 hours) Last edited by MifuneFan; 08-01-2013 at 03:11 PM. |

I'm not so sure about the Behind the Story, but I believe it's included, as well. |

Yeah, I just edited my post to say as much lol. It looks like the Blu-ray.com review just listed the whole thing as Behind the Story rather than naming the individual featurettes . So the only thing new here is the "Revisited" doc, which according to IMDB is 2 hours long.

The doc does look interesting from the clips I've watched, Now that makes the decision harder for me. Get the digibook at $12.99 or this non-digibook re-release with new doc for $20 (it will likely be around $14 on amazon)

I'd like to add to the list. The Big Sleep Key Largo Splendor in the Grass Innerspace City of Angels Iron Giant Singles The Accidental Tourist Damn Yankees Pajama Game Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Tequila Sunrise Now Voyager The Letter Mildred Pierce After Hours Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore Lust for LIfe Victor, Victoria The Bad and the Beautiful Mame Auntie Mame McCabe & Mrs Miller The list is endless and they keep giving us re-issues, double features, triple features, 4 film favorites, steelbooks of the same titles over and over. Look at what 20th Century Fox has done with Classic films this year. Last edited by Brad1963; 08-01-2013 at 04:51 PM. |

This is just an ODD re-issue but hey MAYBE JUST MAYBE They corrected the color that the cinematographer wasn't happy with and finally put back that B/W Saul Bass opening logo since that new one clashes BADLY with the film.
Otherwise waste of time. Years ago when the orignal 2 Disc DVD was issued there was news that Robert Redford had recorded a commentary for The Candidate DVD and it has never been released. They could have released that on BLU. |

Lest there be any lingering doubt, the Blu-ray of the film is identical to the previously released disc.
The new documentary is on a separate disc, 1080i, DD 2.0, 1:28. I'll have a review of it later this week. |

So the doc would be the only reason to double dip then. Definitely pass.
