Default Sharp Aquos and Onkyo

I'm getting ready to buy my receiver (605) in the next week or so.

I have a 32" Aquos (1080p) that I'm planning on using this with.

Just wondering if any other Aquos users out there also have a 605, and if there are any compatibility issues I might want to know about.

Thanks!

You again!!!

I only figured I'd ask because I was farting around on the web and saw where people were apparently having issues with onkyo and the TVs and some colors washing out as the HDMI was passed to the TV. The color pink was mentioned numerous times.

It might have been older models of the receivers though.

I've had my 42" Aquos for 15 months now and the Onkyo since the holidays. No issues to speak of and I'm really happy with the performance of both. Which series do you have? 62, 64, 82? Maybe that has something to do with it.

It's a 62 series. Got it just before the holidays -- something like $500 off, I believe.

Nice deal!

Mine is a 62 series as well. I did a bit of reading on this and other items such as receivers (805, and recently the onkyo DTSHD-MA issues)... It seems there are a lot of squeaky wheels that make problems seem more frequent than they really are. Some issues exist, no doubt about it, but how widespread they are is what I think gets overblown.

and now back to my stalking

Yeah -- it's kinda small. I had a 52" RP before, but I said I wanted a 1080p real bad. It looks nicer in my living room for one, and I said if I saw it anywhere under 1000 I didn't think I'd be able to pass it up, and they had one for $800.

Instantaneous, no question purchase.

You're probably right about the overblown thing, too. Just pays to ask before I spend that money. It's been about 7 years since I upgraded my receiver, and I wanna get it right.

No doubt about it, you need to handle your due diligence. The 605 is a great receiver, I've got one and I talked my father into buying one. Got him all set up with no issues on a 55" Mitsubishi RP tv. It's a great AVR especially considering the price. I'm thinking about upgrading because I went out and got speakers that were way better than anything I ever expected to have...
