Question Which Hannibal Lecter movie should be on Blu-ray?

To me, I liked "Manhunter" because of a pre-CSI William L. Petersen in it, and I'll love "The Silence of the Lambs" forever, since that was the very first Anthony Hopkins film that I ever saw! "Hannibal" was okay, although Julianne Moore could've done better. And even though "Red Dragon" was the remake of "Manhunter" (Brian Cox played Hannibal in said film), it was still really good. And I haven't seen "Hannibal Rising" yet, so I can't really say much about that one. So, my choices would be "Manhunter", "The Silence of the Lambs", and "Red Dragon"!

I Never Saw Manhunter And Silence Of The Lambs Was Awesome, Obviously.Hannibal Was A Mess Compared To The Book, Ridley Scott Killed That Book, Killed It And Urinated On It. In The Book Hannibal Drugs Clarice And Kidnaps Her And They Live Together Forever (With Her Drugged Of Course). Hannibal Rising Was A Good Book, But The Movie Just Made Hannibal Look Like An Emo Kid. Red Dragon Would Have To Be My Personal Favorite Because I Read The Book Before Watching It And Ralph Fiennes Nailed The Part Of Dolarhyde/The Red Dragon. He Was Born To Play That Role.

I would get them all. It would seem silly to only get one or two on blu-ray and not complete the set. But then again i'm a huge fan of the books, first editions of them all, own each movie, etc. So of course I would buy them all. But Silence would probably be my first purchase out of the group.

I would say the best starts in this order:
a) Silence of the Lambs.
b) Manhunter
c) Hannibal
d) Red Dragon.
e) and finally Hannibal Rising.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hannibal Rising and think it stands on its own okay, but just doesn't hold up well when placed in with the other Lecter movies.

I really like Hannibal a lot. I know the Julianne Moore thing was a shame, not because of her performance but because it didn't flow with Silence, but it was still awesome.

1) Silence of the Lambs
2) Hannibal
3) Red Dragon
4) Manhunter
5) Hannibal Rising

Silence of the Lambs is the only one I really need. Hannibal was good, but not even close to SotL. Red Dragan features my favorite actor (Norton FTW), but Brett Ratner ruined it.

For those who voted and haven't seen Manhunter, I highly highly highly suggest you go rent Manhunter tonight and then revote. Manhunter (a Michael Mann movie) is INCREDIBLE! While Anthony Hopkins does an incredible job as Hannibal, I think Brian Cox does just as good, if not better.

Since Manhunter was made in the 80's, you will probably find a different look to it than Silence of the Lambs. The soundtrack alone is very "80's." If you want to be "thrilled" than Manhunter is an excellent choice.
I haven't seen Hannibal Rising, so I'll probably Netflix it.

1) Manhunter
2) Silence of the Lambs
3) Hannibal
4) Red Dragon

My order...

a) Silence of the Lambs.
b) Red Dragon
c) Hannibal
d) Manhunter
e) Hannibal Rising

Red Dragon would have been great with just a few dialog trims here and there. I think it's a vastly superior adaptation of Harris' book than Mann's Manhunter.

What's incredible about it? I think its actually pretty awkward in many places. You remember William Petersen talking to himself up in the tree? Or talking to himself walking around the house? You didn't think that was forced?

At least the remake (Red Dragon) had the good sense to give the character a hand-held voice recorder so as to make his vocal deductions plausible and not look absolutely silly.
