Default Joy Ride 3

source: Fox Home Entertainment

Fox must be making a killing (no pun intended) on its line of direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray sequels for Wrong Turn and Joy Ride.

It's the only reason we can see them pushing forward with both franchises. While we await for the inevitable word that Wrong Turn 6 is in the works, Fox reps inform us today that Joy Ride 3 begins shooting September 3rd.

The last installment in the series - Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead - arrived in 2008. Before that, let's not forget, the decent 2001 film Joy Ride with Paul Walker and Steve Zahn.

"Horror auteur" (the press release's words, not ours) Declan O’Brien (Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines) will direct from a script he penned.

Rusty Nail is back on the road again looking to punish injustice at every turn — and this time it’s with a group of hotheaded street racers on their way to the Road Rally 1000. As they drive through a desolate shortcut on the way to the race, an encounter with Rusty turns sour and soon he is tracking, teasing and torturing them until the end of the road.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will distribute in Summer 2014 on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and VOD.

That's just funny. Gotta milk that direct to video money for all it's worth.

I honestly did not even know that there was a second one. Has anybody seen joy ride 2 and if so, how is it compared to the Paul walker one?

I've seen and actually own part 2. Seems more like a regular horror movie than the first which was more of a suspenseful thriller.

It was decent, but far from the fun that was the first film. Rusty did get the cute lead girl to strip to her granny panties at one point though.

It was a lot more violent if I remember right.

I enjoyed Joy Ride 2 a lot. It's not a masterpiece and definitely not as great as the first, but for a Direct-to-DVD sequel it's really good. Could have even gone theatrical, IMO. I've been wondering why there hadn't been another yet when they continue to do Wrong Turn sequels. I'll definitely watch it, though I'm cautious as it's from the director of Wrong Turn 3 and 4 and those were not very good.

I'm actually surprised they have't done a Direct-to-DVD sequel for The Hills Have Eyes yet. Honestly I wish they'd turn the origin story from the comic book into a film. That was actually quite cool and would make a good movie. Could even go theatrical, but I wouldn't call it The Hills Have Eyes 3. I'd give it a subtitle. Maybe The Hills Have Eyes: Origins.

I've wanted a third Hills Have Eyes for the longest time now. But enough with the rape scenes. They should steal Jeepers Creepers 2's swag and have a bus load of teenagers break down in the New Mexico desert, having to fight off the inbreds.

Even though the second was godawful and seemed like it was written by a drunken frat boy I'd be game for a third from someone else. The "first" was awesome.

Once on DVD was enough for me . If I would have seen it theatrically I would have been the one that felt raped . Glad I listened to reviews.

Rusty Nail, the vengeful trucker with a penchant for pain, slams terror into overdrive in this all-new UNRATED chapter of Joy Ride!

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment takes road rage to an all new level with Joy Ride 3: Road Kill, arriving on Digital HD June 3 and on Blu-ray and DVD June 17.

This third hellish installment in the bloody series finds director Declan O’Brien (Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines) in the driver’s seat for another deadly detour.

“The nightmare begins when a group of young street racers take a desolate shortcut on their way to the Road Rally 1000. But a chance encounter with Rusty soon turns deadly as he stalks, taunts, and tortures his next victims with deranged delight. It’s a full-throttle, pedal-to-the-metal chill ride packed with killer twists and turns!”

Starring Ken Kirzinger (Freddy vs. Jason) as the infamous Rusty Nail, the Joy Ride 3: Road Kill Blu-ray and DVD is loaded with extra features including a variety of deleted scenes, featurettes, behind-the-scenes content, and a gruesome unrated version of the film. They include: Pre-Vis Sequences, Road Rage: The Blood, Sweat and Gears of Joy Ride 3, Riding Shotgun with Declan: Director’s DIE-aries, Finding Large Marge and Audio Commentary.

I just recently watched Joy Ride, what a great movie. I gotta see what the sequel layer out, but I'll give them both a shot

I guess I'm easy to please, because I love these goofy straight-to-DVD sequels. I think they're harmless fun.

Really looking forward to this. Hoping for a Fox Connect 50% off sale to lock in my pre-order.
