Default Temple of Doom - PG - really?

I could have sworn this was a PG-13 flick. I thought it came out as PG, and then they changed it.

Wasn't it one of the first? Or was that Gremlins?

I was wondering whether it might be too much for my youngest son to watch (thinking it was PG-13), but the S-DVD box says PG on it.

It was PG13. In fact the MPAA created PG-13 for this movie. I just looked at mine and it reads PG also. maybe it's a type-O? I watched the documentary yesterday and remember them talking for a while about the PG-13 rating...

Too weird -- maybe they downrated it.

They created PG-13 because of the backlash from TOD and Gremlins at Spielberg's request

Yeah, and that's what I thought happened. I was pretty young at the time, but remembered it because of Gremlins. I learned about TOD later.

Still weird the box shows PG on it... unless the PG-13 was created after the fact. But I always thought those two movies were sold with rating on them.

It was a backlash thing, not a forward thinking

Ah, I see -- I wasn't sure about Indy, but I could have sworn they changed the Gremlins rating something like midway through its run. Started out in theaters in PG, but was re-rated PG-13 while in theaters.

Did I imagine that? I probably did, I was like 10 at the time, I think.

Older films that have PG ratings are sometimes equal to our current PG-13 rating. When was the PG-13 rating added to movies?

Romancing the Stone has plenty of S and GD words, and a pretty much near-naked lady at the beginning of the film...not to mention some decapitations.

oh ya, well remember Logans Run????? well the scene where they are chased into a bar type place, seemed more like an orgy to me. there were all kinds of people half naked with a few boob shots in that and they were all over each other. than when logan calls for a girl and gets her in his place and she is nude from the waist up.

all this and that movie was PG. i think it came out in 1976. check it out, great movie

Yup, TOD inspired pg-13. I guess it had to do with the whole ripping your heart out sequence.
