not exactly - look I cant be arsed to go into it in detail, but I was basically told(explained) that you cant get a raised title without the border and debossing has no border as its simple parts of the artwork pushed back.

yes, the artwork should have either thickened the grey frame to fill the embossed border, or not used a frame at all. Having the frame go halfway through the border looks lazy

I've had this discussion before as I hated the border on Aladdin but loved the embossed title. It was explained that in order to get an embossed title, they have to have a bored so there is not raised part of the artwork sticking out.
Debossment doesnt give a border and is used to push selected part of artwork in towards the inside of the steel - for example Starship Troopers or The Lion King Taiwan steel
right so if the title isnt sticking out, its not embossed. thats what embossed means. they didnt push the title out, the pushed the surface around the title in. i didnt say the title was debossed. the border is 100% NOT embossed. using your own logic, if the letters were embossed they would have to be punched from the inside, which they arent. the design is punched in from the front.

Has anyone with 2 or more copies noticed a sight difference/variance in colour of the artwork on these?

I have two copies, one seems to have more of a purple hue and the small picture of the bottom of the spine seems darker whilst the white writing on the other seems lighter

I've seen this on other titles. Two copies of Oblivion steelbook, one has a blue spine the other is closer to violet.

Log into your Zavvi account and let 'em about it on their message centre. It's the only way to contact them. Good luck.

Log into your account and find the order number, contact them by hitting "Query".

Also try:

feedback@zavvi.com
enquiries@zavvi.com

I know you are outside of the UK, but some people have had luck contacting them at this number: 0844 264 0702

Don't hold me to it about the number though.

I would go ahead and take pictures of your damaged item. Be sure to include the box and possibly any invoice and/or order number, to be used as reference.
While I've never received a damaged SB, I've read that some have had to supply Zavvi with pictures in order to get a refund or credit.

Welcome to hell: aka Zavvi Customer Service.

I noticed that and mentioned it earlier. I kept the one with the natural colour palette and will sell the one with the slight blue tint.

Is there a chance someone can upload a photo showing the difference? I'm interested in seeing how off they look next to each other.

Did you pay via Paypal? If so open up a Paypal dispute as I have found that is the only way to get them to respond.

I'm not sure if it will show up like that tbh. If you have one with not so white writing on the spine almost like a faded look I would guess that you have the one with the purple hue.

Check out the picture here, top left and bottom left

ha ha. Though not exactly.
I mean, I see how some people may confuse the two(as embosseing a title may give the false impression of debossing everything around the title) but there is a clear distinction between seeing/knowing which process was used and dozen's of sites that clearly outline them. Its all to do with what part of the image is raised or lowered, not the background/remainder of the artwork

All I think he's trying to say (at least initially) is that the outer "border" of the cover is neither embossed nor debossed, it's exactly where it would be on any normal SteelBook before anybody ever touched it with a stamp. That allows it to maintain the same dimensions of any other SteelBook.

Then, whether done all at once with a single stamp, or whether a two-stamp process, relatively speaking to the normal SteelBook surface plane, the inner rectangle is pushed in (debossed) and, relative to this new lowered surface plane, the title and anything else is pushed out (embossed). Therefore allowing us the touchy feelyness of embossing without causing us the headache of SteelBooks scratching each other up on the shelf with all their "outy bits" (or not fitting into those steel shells that are all the rage). Come to think of it, was there ever a single SteelBook that raised anything without first lowering the surrounding region?

If it's all done with one stamp, I think technically we may have to say that the cover is debossed and nothing is embossed, but I always imagined it is two stamps to re-use the same rectangular stamp for everything and cut back on the amount of stamp material involved across multiple products, so I would personally call the rectangle debossed and the title/etc embossed.

But I agree that the outer edge, what we are calling the "border", is technically neither. Except...it does usually end up becoming angled outward a bit along the edges, which I've assumed is just a side effect of doing such a large shape on a thin material and not intentional. So, there's that.

I'll wait a bit longer before selling my spare. The market might be a bit saturated at the moment and seeing as its a quality steelbook for a title that isnt available elsewhere in the uk (even on amaray), the price should go up.
