Default Samsung HP-S4253 42" Plasma HDTV - Will It Work?

Kinda confused here. We picked this TV up in January.

Will I see the same picture quality I saw at the Blu Ray "booth" at the local store on my tv?

Im not an idiot.. and I am aware of differences in resolution and such, but I am not up to speed on the nitty gritty.

Question is, am I missing out? Is it worth it? HD tv looks superb, especially the Discovery channel. Is that the quality I can expect from blu ray on this tv or will it be better?

Just curious!

Thanks.

Tell us the specs and inputs man. We don't carry the specs of every tv model ever made on out heads (Well, HDTV1080P does )

If the TV is set up correctly and specially if it's 1080 and accepts 1080p or deinterlaces 1080i correctly, I don't see why not. (equal or surpass what you saw). If you're asking if Blu-ray disc quality surpases HD broadcasts, of course! Just get one of the best mastered BDs and check for yourself.

Generally I've found that Blu-ray is better quality than HD Broadcast, although HD Broadcast is very nice.

If yours is an HDTV, pop a Blu-ray player in front of it and it will look spanking.

Does it accept 1080i signals? HDMI? HDCP?

That TV will look great with Blu-ray, despite what some people may tell you. I have a 720p Samsung in my bedroom and it looks great with blu-ray. Depening on the person, you may or may not even notice a difference between 1080p and 720p sources.

Funny I just picked up my second 1080p tv the other day. Before owning them, and viewing in my own home...I alway thought there wasn't an appreciable difference. I can actually spot 1080p easily now. The other day I bought the HLS5087W samsung DLP 50" I got it delivered, setup etc...very happy with it. I go to work the next day (best buy) and I notice a new samsung 50" DLP and I see it from a distance. An associate is showing it to a customer. I immediately notice the picture isn't as good as mine. "Something don't look right" I say to myself. I look down at the Tag...1280x720.

Well thats why.

Years ago,
I used to not be able to tell from ED plasma to HD plasma...that became easy once i got HD. I've always been able to tell 720p to 1080i, 1080i looks better.
I still can't tell between 1080p & 1080i (on a 1080p tv), only that there is less scaling artifacts. Moire i think they call it.

Thanks all!

So my tv is limited at 720p right? However it can accept up to 1080i inputs?

That's how I am reading it.
